Went to allotment again this morning still had to water the greenhouse and cold frame, sweltering in the greenhouse at 08.00, checked the brussels for cabbage white eggs and dealt with them, not using the scaffold netting cabbage white protection method this year as it caused more problems than it solved, didn't stay long as it's too hot. Tomorrow's forecast to be hotter still so will have to water again, last time this week hopefully.
Yes @GWRS the 3am storm was a good un. This morning had to do a bit of remedial work on the garden. Tied up the raspberries as rain had knocked them down somewhat. Did the same for the clematis. Might loose the top of one or two tomatoes as they were partially snapped by the weight of water. The rest seem to have weathered the storm, but there are petals everywhere from flowers like roses.
We only got a 10 min burst of rain here so will have to water some more greenhouse always needs watering of course. Everything cropping well now, some slug damage on my early spuds (foremost) which is a little unusual as slugs tend to go for maincrop which are in the ground longer.
We're promised thunderstorms tonight but I will still go to check the greenhouse tomatoes tomorrow morning, the temperature rose to 36 degrees here today it was well over 40 degrees in the garden greenhouse with all ventilators open.
We had thunder and lightening and heavy rain Tuesday evening at 11.30pm to start
