At allotment for three hours this morning, planted out row of curly kale and more lettuce plants in between the sweetcorn plants, the sweetcorn plants are coming on a storm but I suppose that we need some sun on them now don't we? Harvested broad beans from the second sown plants, no sign of blackfly but loads of ladybirds about so yay! to them, also dug some charlotte potatoes the first lot were delicious, and a cabbage, all for lunch. Everything is thriving this year so much better then last year. Had a bit of a drama with a female pheasant though, coming back from the water trough with a watering can I noticed a large chick with its leg stuck in some netting before I could put the can down the mother made her presence felt and I had to chase her away so I could free the chick, the mother then gets into my sweetcorn as I had removed the netting from that so I had to chase her out of there, they can always find their way in but struggle to find the same way out don't they? It all ended with the mother coming back to be reunited with the chick so all's well that ends well!

Barry island sounds a lot going on nice to help the chick out, I really liked my broad beans this year
Flying ant day I think other day end of day they were getting ontop of my small shed highest point that end of plot to fly off
More on shed today cutting wood up, lots of butterflies around, harvested some of the bramble blackberries off plot today - has some the other day made apple and blackberrie pie - they are quite sharp

Blimey blackberries are early down your way, I checked the gooseberries the other day some were soft and juicy but not very sweet, they are usually very sweet and taste of pineapple believe it or believe it not!

Morning all , yesterday afternoon at plot , filled our 3 water cubes
O/H Picked some more raspberries & gooseberries and a bit of weeding
I dug up some ground covering plants from garden and planted around the  three quarters of the edges of the plot , if they take should stop the weeds , recycling as I was going to get rid of them anyway
Got some hardy ground covering geraniums at home that I will plant around the remainder
I going to plot this morning Noticed 2 holes in storage shed roof , so some repairs
Blackberries no where ready hear , love blackberry & Apple pie 🥧

Hello spent morning repairing shed roof and also finally fixed the door 🚪 properly after it was vandalised a few years ago , pleased that it now shuts properly

Went to the plot yesterday done a lot of building on small shed fixing roof on, covered with plastic temp as was going to rain, did some spitting later on in evening
A large pile of bark/ leaf chipping arrived in car park and we spread it out for car park and got some on my plot for a few paths
Today went volunteer garden clear a lot - as nothing been watered really frazzled plants
Later allotment plot harvested poppy seeds, cleared away broad beans kept the bits that started growing bit of muggy day outside

GWRS that sounds as though you got some bits done, a plot holder got their tomatoes stolen the other night

After a night of much needed rain the sun is now out so will be off to allotment open up and water in the tunnel, and plant out some cabbage's. Everything is going along nicely harvesting broccoli, french beans, tom's, cucumbers, carrots, beetroot, and loads of other stuff so far it's been a really good year.

Yes the rain was very welcome but next week the temperatures are set to rise to ridiculous levels again, I'm hoping that this will be good for the sweetcorn which is developing at an alarming rate, last Monday the tassels were just emerging by Friday they were six inches long, 35 degrees won't do much to encourage the row of curly kale that I have just planted though. Still these are the challenges of gardening no point in moaning about the weather we just have to cope with it and enjoy the successful harvest.

I know this for allotment gardeners, but I get so excited when harvesting from my little patch.
Have just taken the cherries from the tree 28. ( not many but it is only four months old) Two potatoes pulled 2lb 10oz from them( would that be considered good for Charlotte) and lettuce(little gem) and Apatchi spring onions. It's so good to know what you eat that day is grown by you.☺️
