  • Even the cold greenhouse got down to 2.9C this week. Caught the last of the flowers outside, but the little gem lettuce is still going strong I wonder for how much longer.

Gardengirl , 6 x 8 with a sloping roof , delivered and put up in about 3 to 4 weeks , a winter project , really looking forward to it
Hoping to get to allotment Monday as weather should be ok then
  • Hoping it will dry enough for a quick visit. I have been spending money & have Rock Dust and seaweed products to take so I am ready with them in late winter as spring approaches. For anyone who has never tried it I can really recommend Rock Dust or Remin (same thing, crushed volcanic rock). It is particularly good round permanent planting such as fruit trees & bushes , and long standing crops like some of the brassicas. You need to apply it 2-3 months in advance of when you want the benefit, seems to help crops ripen, brassicas heart up well etc very good on clay soil helps release the natural fertility, a lot of manures & composts lack any minerals & this replenishes them.
