    Fantastic @purplerallim

My lettuce have now developed their first true leaves, so moving ahead nicely.

I've bought some really big cells, a similar size to yours for some future carrot and onion sowing, so looking forward to using those.

Finished planting the seed potatoes I notice that Nick Frost said that he plants early potatoes first followed by second early and then maincrop, I can't see the point of that I put mine in as early as I can after all the sooner you put them in the earlier you can harvest them.
Maybe like me he doesn't want to harvest them all early but staggering the crop means the lates  get a chance to get to a bigger size, and they will store longer. August is often a wetter  month, so if the tops are still green they will continue to grow for a  longer time.

I have managed a few sessions on the plots too  . Rather overdid things on Saturday,  with a 6hr stint so took it a bit easier today
Still battling the bindweed roots in various places, so hopefully  Less will come through later in the year.

Hello , potatoes 🥔 my earlies are in and I’ll put in the main crop late April and hoping they will be bigger and last over the winter , again all depends on weather

@Allotment Boy Know what you mean about over doing it , so now I work for about an hour or so then a coffee ☕️ brake , o/h thinks I have to many breaks but it means I can get a lot more done

As far as growing potatoes go I'm always mindful of late blight so would rather get them in early so they reach a decent size in case I have to chop the tops off during July/August.

I understand that about blight,  that's why I  always grow blight resistant main crop now, but I am aware they are only resistant not immune.

Good news today the spears are starting to show on the new Asparagus bed.  As this is year 3 I should be able to pick some soon.

Hello all , full day at allotment , after a weeks holiday
I needed to replace various fence post unfortunately this weeks the wind has knocked a few more down , so spent a couple of hours sorting that out , not what I intended to do

Got 2 beds of main crop potatoes 🥔 in and had to hoe up first earlies

Put some weed killer on bark chippings paths
    Nice day weather wise
O/H planted a load of seeds in greenhouse at home

@Allotment Boy  , fresh asparagus is fabulous , cut four spears today , loads just coming up
Cut some purple sprouting broccoli but nearly finished
Rhubarb  , surprised to find it had some flowers , which I cut off

Currently having a couple of beers before dinner to recover

There are signs of life on the spring onions in the greenhouse, and beetroot under a closhe in the raised bed.
We too have been fence replacing this weekend @GWRS three panels. Needed to cut down a dead limb 12ft long from a Hawthorn first, and remove the dreaded ivy😡

I am still battling my way through the roots and bindweed etc from the old Asparagus and Strawberry beds. I know I have been droning on about this for ages but I  am only doing about an hour at a time because I am literally having to pick my way through every fork full by hand.  Now we can't burn till November,  so I am bringing it home to go in the green bin,  but again I can only do a bit at a time so the bin doesn't end up too heavy. To give a small idea of it see picture below.  The roots on the ground surface are from the previous fork full, you can see more protruding from the trench face.
