  • @purplerallim Just wondering, since the last frost is normally May in the north where I am should I fleece them till then?

I didn't do the young plants I put out in April, and the shoots that came up didn't suffer in May, but mine are in a raised bed which might help. Mind you the soil was bitterly cold this month when I did some work in the bed @celcius_kkw , so even though we get frosts till end May, they do seem to do OK.
  • @purplerallim Thank you. That’s really good to know.. I guess it will be a little bit of trial and error for me but at least I feel like I know what I’m doing now :)

I would say that's ditto for me too @celcius_kkw 😁 Good job we have others on here to help us out. Most of what I know has been found on here. When you go from the odd tomato and cucumber plant to planning a veg plot it's quite a jump.😁

Friday , took cladding of old shed to reuse on a new wood store at home

Went up today & O/H stained the wood

Both days bark chippings on paths

  • Went to plots yesterday,  pools of water everywhere.  The last trench (where l stopped digging a while ago)  was full of water.  I continued with trying to dismantle the fruit cage but I may have to move it as is. I only want to re-set it straight.  I should put it somewhere different but it's in the most convenient spot, so I am going to make some narrow deep beds with fresh soil.  It's not ideal but I hope it'll work.

Hello , went to plot today , burnt pruning on burning plot as there was already a fire 🔥 so decided to pull down old shed and burn it
A bit worn out but pleased it’s done , was able to save some more cladding
Even managed to burn a rotten railway sleeper
Took roof  felt home for black rubbish bin
  • Managed a trip to Allotment in pm, it wasn't as wet as I had feared.  Wished I had gone earlier I might have got some digging done.  As it was I harvested some parsnips,  & celeriac . I  brought some more spuds out of the store. It took twice the time to wash the mud off the parsnips as it did to dig them.
