I'm a bit the same @Wilderbeast . I tend to look after the house better in winter, but it's lucky to get a dusting in summer.😂
  • I think that goes for most of us judging by comments from others, @purplerallim
I managed a trip to the Allotment,  very wet everywhere.  I continued with my pallet dismantling ( I want to use the timber as a raised bed). I harvested some sprouts and celeriac,  but not much else.  The winter salad is still growing in the greenhouse,  albeit slowly.

@purplerallim I don't really do dusting ever, I cook and Hoover mainly as I like nice food and Mrs Wilderbeast thinks fish fingers are brill and I do like nice stripes in my carpets 🤣🤣.

Ordered more seed today and pre ordered grafted aubergine, seemed early to order them but as there already appears to be seed shortages I'm getting in early. Shifted 2 bags of compost from my drive down the garden, they 125lts so quite bulky 18 in total but no hurry to get it done

Am in the process of deciding which potatoes to order this year. Have been looking at Wilja an early late ( why can't they just say mid season) as haven't seen last year's good ones "Markies" yet.

Rain over night got of snow
Took some sand that I’ve got at home to allotment for laying some more slabs at back of new shed for 3 water butts , ground absolutely sodden and some standing water
  • @purplerallim I am finding the same,  you can get some cultivars you want from one site, but have to go to a different place for others.  I  am lucky there's a couple of good GC within reasonable distance that both have a wide selection.  I have ordered some online this time though as I wasn't sure what the situation would be re the virus.
Went to plots this am persuaded my OH to come just to get out.  Didn't do much but at least we got an airing.

Just been through my seeds and realised I will need more carrots ( have enough "speedo" for the first sowing) and am out of french beans ( do have dwarf black French, but they didn't do well the first time of trying) so will be doing a bit of searching for seed and compost delivery ( as hubby can't drive due to broken shoulder,  and I don't) I did try to get seed for this year, but somehow missed these two.😊
  • Easily done especially when the website doesn't follow the same pattern as the printed catalogue.  Some are much better than others.

@purplerallim I got a delivery of compost from B&Q, it was a large free delivery and not sure on availability now.

Dismantled part of the compost bins, 1 of the dividing pallets has rotted through and simply collapsed. I have a large collection of pallets most of which are the blue variety which are much stronger than my previous collection.

The garden is absolutely sodden now huge lake despite my pump running and shifting water to some low scrub land. We are bordered by gardens that are both higher than us and water just runs off onto us.

Getting seed could be a problem this year, I got in early but I was reading on another forum of people struggling to get what they want. I was after a few very specific items which were from EU and the suppliers have stopped importing into the UK.

@Allotment Boy when do you sow your celeriac ? I'm have a go this year and have read that it can be a little needy

Luckily I am not too picky about varieties of seed, am just happy if they grow and taste good @Wilderbeast 😁
Am just looking at B&Q compost , it appears between last week and this the 50ltr verve has gone up to £5.50 a bag. Trust them to cash in 🙄
