  • I think using the plastic bag method means the Glyfosate doesn't go onto the soil but does get right down into the root system of the weed being treated, if you leave the bags on the top growth until it dies it can be collected, bag as well, and burned or the dead contents can be put on the bonfire, in the incinerator etc. burned and bag disposed of separately.

A plot holder on our allotment site raps Bindweed around canes and then sprays it with weed killer
  • There is always the risk of spray drifting onto nearby plants. I killed a shrub accidentally when using a spray. I didn't realise there was any wind to speak of. I am much more careful now.
    Lesson learned.

Another good day at allotment , 4 gooseberry bushes , 1 fig & small tree pruned , so another load to burn 🔥
Also another 4 barrow loads of bark chippings  for paths
As ever a few more small jobs done , having a beer 🍺 before dinner and the final of dancing on ice
    Happy gardening

I've only sown the tomatoes and cucumbers seeds today, not been warm enough for me to be outside.

I am coming up to that difficult time, I need to empty the propagator for seed sowing,  but it's still full of things I'm trying to protect from the cold.

Tomorrow I intend to plant out peas and broad beans container grown at home, the area of my plot has been covered with plastic for a week just hoping that it stays dry enough to get onto the soil. Next week it's the turn of the potatoes fingers crossed for not too wet conditions.
