Went and picked up some heavy paving slabs today just 2 of them 60 by 90cm big and thick 5cm,  they will go under my water butts off of chicken roofing run
Super wet day though, the temporary bucket that is there fills and overflows loads

  • I doubt GWRS has done much @Gardengirl.. , as we have had a howler of a storm go through. In two days its stripped the trees bare, and soaked us, plus now its getting very cold at night ( at least for the next couple of days🥶) so just waiting for the wind to drop so can pick up all the leaves.🌧🌬🌫🥶

  • @Ferdinand2000 Thanks had to have help 2-3 person thing got them free from someone from gumtree, that is why my left arm been playing up a bit, we got very muddy with them too - still to move them inplace if the weather stays dry for a bit might be able to get the area sorted and get them in place,  only ever had 60cm by 60cm and 5cm deep they are very heavy but not as bad as the bigger ones but good to get free stuff

Today cut down J artichokes and popping sweetcorn stems - harvested them so many nice colours on the corn will need to dry for a while yet - had a small bonfire most things bit wet and my bin has not got much of a bottom now the rest may go into garden bin

Heh. When I moved my last lot (4 a month ago) to put some to overwinter my container plants, I borrowed a bodybuilding friend from my gym who just picked them up and carried them across the garden (carefully). I might just be able to "walk" them when I am feeling strong.

Around here a lot of the older houses seem to have had paths made out of Pressed Council Slabs, and quite often there is a pile in the corner when they have redone the garden and left them, because they are such sods to take anywhere.

Gardengirl , got the Diary results , not read it yet
Had a few busy days getting stuff ready for lockdown 2
Now weather improving , hopefully have a few more days at allotment

  • Got to plots today - at last.  Brought home some more spuds from store, and some pears which seem to have ripened at last. Pulled more beetroot, and dug first parsnips, the snips are a bit small, I thought I had thinned them enough but it seems not, oh well.  Moved the butternut squash, & pumpkins from greenhouse to shed I hope the frost has not got to them. The Dahlias were not so lucky nearly all blackened, such a shame but they have been good. Brought a few more toms from the greenhouse they have begun to turn so hoping they will ripen at home. May have to give up on the rest now we have had frost.
