  • Went yesterday and cut the Butternut squash off the plants & put them in the greenhouse to finish drying off. Still picking Toms, Runner & french Beans. Had to give in & spray the sprouts & Kale for whitefly there is a huge infestation. The rain today will wash it off again but hopefully it's knocked them back enough, only works on contact.

Chutney or relish usually @Gardengirl.. , but not this year as hubby is not keen so given them away to a neighbour for her to make chutney 😁

Filled up compost bin today as cleaned out the big chickens house and run -  figured out it has been about 3 months that it took to fill it up - mainly chicken waste, poop and bedding - so will have to sort out tidying up first the bin area next door, then weed matting and wood slats

Chutney or relish usually @Gardengirl.. , but not this year as hubby is not keen so given them away to a neighbour for her to make chutney 😁

My dad made some chutney with the tomatoes which he will eat, me not keen on things like that

Plot near by got her new shed up today after the last one was burnt down by vandals start of July this year - she had lots of helpers to do that

Very wet again over last week some plots had a few inches of rain on them

Yesterday cleared out the greenhouse of the last tomato plants and cucumber plants, ready to put the tubs with semi hardy bedding in.
    The annual job.
Used the used compost to dress the flower beds, and planted the last pansy.
That just leaves some carrots and lettuce outside.
Talking of carrots to do a succession sowing I planted seed in trays in March, put them in the ground about April, and at the same time sowed seed direct. The planted ones all forked, but the seed ones were nice and straight . All in the same bed, with the same soil.🤔

Hello went to allotment yesterday and pulled up the outdoor tomatoes 🍅 , a big tub of green ones , o/h thinking what to do with them
carrots 🥕 pulled a few up
I do have 2 sowings but use carrot tape from Lidl , always a good crop
Hopefully going again on Sunday to clean up some beds

Saturday hopefully finish cleaning g/h , all that’s left is 1 aubergine 🍆 plant and some basil 🌿
    Enjoy gardening
  • I too have been turning & re-mixing my composts, as they had got too wet & sticky. I had some shredded tree prunings to mix in & they have heated up nicely again.
My last visit I went through all my stored spuds, & was pleasantly surprised they were all in good condition. I wish I could say the same about the Apples & Pears, had to throw a lot away.
