That Paradise garden was such a fail. I knew it would be. I grow thyme for the flowers but have never bothered with it in cooking much preferring parsley, coriander, mint and oregano. Maybe I need cooking lessons, but did she need to go on so long with so many different types of thyme? The London gardener has been on before, but he has a very artistic garden in a small space. I like Patsy and I'm glad it's still on air and doing its best for gardeners.
It was a real missed opportunity. I thought they could have tuned in with all the new people growing for the first time (sorry on the word play). Instead lots of different thyme ordered from specialist nurseries, which is a really bad idea right now from my experience, be waiting weeks for them.
I really miss the approach Geoff H had so much. He would have taken a practical approach to what is happening right now and shown people how to grow a whole range of herbs from seed, while pointing out any different requirements, in about 5 minutes air time.
Patsy gets a thumbs up, first time I've seen a living thing move quickly at Longmeadow.
Still enjoy the show, though the shortcomings in the past few years seem even more jarring at the moment.
That bit of gloating by Monty how the chap's tiny Islington garden was as big as his dry bed was unintentionally hilarious. It can all seem so out of touch with reality when he's enveloped in such a bubble of privilege. Oh and don't forget about reusing that compost to grow parsley 😉 let's hope there's more Adam Frost next week and Frances has been missed.
I had to think for a moment who Patsy was ! For a mad moment l pictured Joanna Lumley tottering round Longmeadow being followed by Nigel and Nelly.... To be honest, l thought Monty said her name was Patty, but l am going a bit stir crazy ! The thyme section did go on a bit, much as l like Rachel. I would have thought that by next week the production team would have got things together as they'll have had time to work through the pre recorded pieces they already have. Rather than going back to film of Monty just last year, why not go back to older ones of Alan Titchmarsh, Toby Buckland and Geoff Hamilton amongst others ? Even if only to say "Times have changed" at the end of it ! Also older gardens that have been visited over the years ? I'm interested to see what this new development is that Monty was talking about.
Much as I love the programme I do miss Geoff Hamilton at times like this, so practical and a prolific 'recycler' of just about anything! Does anyone remember his £2 a week garden? Kept me going through an impoverished period in the 80's and made 'junk' OK to use, not so acceptable then as now.

He was way ahead of his time. I think a lot of new gardeners now would love his recycling approach, clever, innovative and practical. Still make use of his bit of plastic gutter technique to plant peas. There probably isn't a lot I do in the garden that wasn't influenced by Geoff's ideas.
Have to agree with all of the above except Toby Buckland. Too irritating.
I have sent OH a diagramme of GH's wooden frame for covering with netting to move about between beds in case he gets bored and needs a project but, of course, all the DIY shops are closed so no wood. However, one has announced it will re-open shortly so we'll see.
That Paradise garden has been a travesty from the start - no rill for water and seriously bad planting. Just waiting for him to turn it into a medieval parterre/knot garden with a substitute for box.
