@Marlorena You are! But I didn’t just take your word for it. I went on helpmefind to get some more information on the rose. Saw an absolutely gorgeous photo of the bloom, much better than the photo on the David Austin website. Thought oh yes, maybe I do like it after all!

Then noticed it was your photo!!! You’re everywhere! 🤣

lol... I'm glad you noticed...  I've even invaded Instagram but I'm not one for putting myself about too much, so I only have a few 'select' followers.... like half of DA...

I recognised it as one of yours before I saw the name. Brunnera and Geraniums in the background.

Ive still got a £5 Garden centre voucher and I’m on the lookout for some more Geraniums - as the cantabrigiense I bought stop in June. I’d like some longer flowering ones - I saw Patricia, which I know is long flowering and a variety of oxonianum with thin petals.

There’s so many types, I’d like something that would grow nicely with roses and not swamp, maybe some low front of border types like the cantabrigiense and some taller ones for the middle of border.

If I’ve got names in my head I can look at for them, especially next years Gardeners fair at Burton Agnes as they have a lovely range for really good prices there. That’s where I got Biokovo and Rozanne.

The other plant I fancied was an aster but I wondered if there were any good varieties that don’t grow so tall that they need staking (not a fan of the short rounded bush ones I’ve seen that just look like chrysanthemums)

@Mr. Vine Eye... you know my style...    here is a list of long flowering plants suitable for your roses, as ground cover or small sub shrubs with foliage colour... don't forget that too..

...the very best perennial Aster is Aster frikartii 'Monch'...  Monch is the name to look for.. it flowers from late June to November, and I still have flowers on it now.. does not need staking... in fact it's one of the very best perennials of any sort you can buy..

...Geranium 'Russell Prichard'.. deep pink.... Geranium oxonianum varieties.. I grow 'Cream Chocolate' and have made a whole border edge with it... still a few late blooms.. very long season...  I also grow 'Summer Surprise' and 'Hexham Pink'.. larger growing types, flower all season... make big mounds...

Geranium 'Patricia'... I have this in various spots... some years rebloom is better than others, but it's indispensable..

Geranium 'Mavis Simpson' or 'Jean Armour'.. very similar... long flowering and spreading..

..don't forget things like Phlox... I love 'Purple Flame'.. it goes so well as a divider between yellow and pink roses.. a group of 3 is really good.. long flowering period..and scented too..

Parahebe 'Porlock' and 'Avalanche'..  long flowering evergreen little ground covers...
    ...fairly hardy...

I'll post some photos of these....

Aster 'Monch'.. a group of 3... just one plant will do...

Geranium 'Cream Chocolate'... my favourite non invasive Geranium.. so easy too..

    Geranium 'Patricia'...

Geranium 'Jean Armour' / 'Russell Prichard'

Cistus 'Thrive'... this is an essential sub shrub with roses... flowers all summer..in to autumn... a first class plant..

    Parahebe 'Avalanche'... very long season...

    Parahebe 'Porlock'... the same...

    Phlox 'Purple Flame'....

Berberis 'Bagatelle'... or 'Admiration'.. both excellent foliage plants.. making rounded mounds...

To be honest, I am also considering ordering Gabriel Oak after seeing Marlorena's photos on helpmefind ;) But I will wait for their new roses in spring, maybe they will come with something even harder to resist.
Marlorena, I am looking forward to your photos of your new roses from Trevor White next year, especially the bourbons Commandant Beaurepaire and Mrs Paul. And we both got Souvenir de St. Anne's, I am looking forward to both growing it and seeing your photos.
I will have to prune the roots of mines too, I need to fit some of them into temporary pots, one to plant in spring and two (the once bloomers) to plant in late summer. Hopefully, they won't mind too much.
