Finally  this one. One main flush of flowers and occasional odd blooms later, sweetly scented but I don't know her name. Any ideas please.Thank you.
That looks and sounds rather like my New Dawn.

Thanks for the update on Darcy, @Daniel Rutherford - seems to be the year for early season abnormalities! I had a weird Mme. Hardy, a strange Munstead Wood and a few other oddities. I like your Morning Mist, must look that one up!

@edhelka, at least I have lovely warm weather... thank god, the caterers are here and will be expecting 48 guests for a garden party from 6pm so going to sign off for a while x

  • Yes @Nollie it seems that way tbh, maybe cause of a warm February in uk for me but of course that wouldn’t of affected you!!

and yes morning mist is lovely, still young for me but gets very big according to DA website which says 6ft tall and it’s put the most growth on out of all my roses so far this year!!

Hi @Marlorena can you identify this rose for me?. I seem to remember that the name reminded me of Princess Diana but I don't think it had either of those words in its name . It is about 5ft tall and in a very shady corner, it seems quite disease resistant considering that I ignore it for most of the year until it produces a few of these lovely blooms.  The most likely candidate is English Miss but I don't know why that connects with Princess Diana in my brain.

When I had 'English Miss', I don't recall it looking like that...  how long have you had this rose? and is the colour true ? it looks very light in the pictures..  I would like to see a wide open bloom showing the stamens, but there are a number like this and I might not know this one in particular...

This is showing stamens as requested. The colour is pretty accurate and the flower is about 12cm across. We inherited it when we came here 5 years ago but I moved it about 4 years ago and apart from mulching with stable manure haven't really done anything to it.

@Suesyn ... thanks for the better image... I'm now pretty sure that is actually 'English Miss'...

...this example showing the stamens of a wider open bloom than yours, but very similar..

...and this one from Peter Beales...

..the foliage is correct for this rose... and also the growth habit, although being in a shady spot, has caused it to reach up a bit...  one has to allow for the fact that the same rose can look a little different in other garden photos.. soil, cultivation, light and sun, photos taken at different stages etc.....  do enjoy your rose..
