You surely should be able to smell Gertrude @Nollie ? Don’t have it but have heard many praises on its strength...

    Nice rose @Gartener

With Gertrude, yes if I stick my nose right in a bloom, @Alchemist but many roses, to which others say ‘oh that smells divine/fruity/whatevs...’ I get absolutely nothing! I would love to be able to walk past a rose and get a waft of perfume, but I suspect it’s mission impossible.

I take it’s good for ignoring horrid smells as much 😀.

Doesn’t work like that, sadly! I can sure smell pungent (the pig manure the local farmers spread is foul). On the plus side, I can detect aromatics pretty well, so things like rosemary, lavender, agastache are fine, plus jasmine and some very heavily perfumed shrubs, but rose notes are just lost on me.
