Picidae - apart from liking valerian as a plant for pollinators and also for really poor, dry soil - grow wild and on pavement edges here where nothing else will - and liking variegated plants for brightening dull corners I have to agree about your list of horrors and would just add euphorbia in all its forms from spurge to poinsettias and everything in between.
On faceache, competitive liking is the norm, people sulk if they don't get enough likes. We are opening a totally pointless can of worms. If you admire the photo, but not the plant, just say so. It is what sets us apart from lower forms of life. If we are going to have meaningless likes, then I demand the use of the I really hate button.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
@Picidae that made me chuckle. I really do not understand the dislike for the new "like" button. It has certainly created a lot of criticism today it seems. I was particularly saddened to see people in favour of it being referred to as saddoes. To me it is simply a function to show appreciation for a funny post, captivating flower or garden view. I don't see it creating competition amongst us gardeners. I leave for work at eight in the morning, and return around 4.30pm, if I'm lucky. I then like to catch up on the threads I follow over a cuppa, this could be many, many pages. The like button now gives me the opportunity to show appreciation for an individual funny post or photo as I read through. It seems pointless to comment on something that may have been posted 6 hours earlier. For forum members who avidly dislike the like function I wonder if Daniel and his team could perhaps add the ability of opting out of seeing the like option in the edit function of our profile set up? For example I have turned off the ability to see signatures under posts as I find the quotes used sometimes irritating and distracting.
Lilysilly - I didn't even know you could turn off the quotes.  I tend to ignore them except for Pdoc who changes his lyrics quite frequently.
Those who don't like the Like button can surely ignore it too and leave those who do to use it as they see fit. Â
Now for today's grump. forecast has dark clouds with the maximum 7 drops of rain indicating downpours all morning and there is not a drop to be had! That means I'll need to water the 3 beds in urgent need of weeding and sorting and that means a grumpy OH as the water meter ticks on. Can't weed clay set like concrete without it.
Well the DFS chair women has missed out because I've had an offer of £40 accepted for a Marks and Spencer armchair in a very snazzy tweedy fabric. Small rip that needs repairing but otherwise perfect for my needs.  Browsing the second-hand market really puts you off buying new though. That chair is listed at about £600 on the M&S website and I'd expect an expensive chair like that to wear a lot better than it has.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I 'm not objecting to others using the like button, but it's just not for me.Â
