They may have increased a bit this year @Marlorena, but l thought at that price it was worth a try. Think it was late April/ early May time. l'm off to Morrisons tomorrow, will have to see if they've got any £1.79 ones like the one that Mr Vine Eye found.....

You can feed it in the pot!   All my clems are still in pots including ones we brought with us when we loved 30 months ago and ones I've bought since.

Problems with droughts and unexpected complications so their new beds are on hold.

Have never had a clematis before so don't know if I did the right thing or not. Bought Nubia end of May in flower put in tub with white geranium to keep the roots cool. Watered and fed a few times over the summer, but it never seemed to put on much growth or flower. It died back at end of summer at which point I put it in the greenhouse, it's been there ever since. At beginning of March saw new growth so cut dead wood back to a new bud. Now after a long explanation , sorry, wonder if I did right as lots of new growth with buds already( a bit early?) and as we are still having night frosts is it too early to put back on south facing but open wall?

I don't know if it would be worth hardening it off by putting it out during the day and bringing it in at night until the end of the frosts ?
Went to Morrisons this morning, only one clematis left, and even that was beyond my power of salvation, totally dead.

As Anni says, harden it off gradually and make sure you feed and water it the summer.  They are thirsty plants so that means every day in hot spells.

That dark pots will absorb more heat than can be cooled by a plant at the base.  Better to stand pots in front of it or, better still, plant it in the ground.

But if I plant it in the ground it will get killed off by the frost as it is not hardy @Obelixx that's why the pot. There is a little wall in front of the tub outside so it is protected  somewhat from the sun.

Can't find that name in the clematis list on this site - http://www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/ - which has hundreds of them.  Have you splet it correctly?  Is it brand new?

Either way, if it has to stay in the pot be prepared to move to a bigger pot as it matures and always make sure it has enough water and is fed regularly with a dollop of slow release food for clematis, roses or tomatoes and occasional liquid feeds as instant tonics.
