My offering Guernsey Cream. This is the best Clematis I have

  • It's gorgeous Iamweedy, far superior to my 3 plants, you have trained it nicely.  How long have you had it?

First time Clematis grower here! So lots to learn.
I purchased two on sale last year from the local garden center last summer, couldn't see why they were on sale looked ok to me.
After a hard prune this year they were doing fab, till the one on the middle got completely stripped last week. Went out this morning & found the reason on my good one this morning!
I have no idea what type they are hopefully when the bud is fully open I can get an I.D

Guernsey Donkey 2 . I think this is the third year. It goes from a pale green to a cream colour. The flowers are very big and last well.

  • Yes, I have noticed that too Iamweedy, the flowers do open like saucers, and do last a long time.  I think I was expecting a more creamy colour - our Guernsey cream (food) really is more cream than the colour of my flowers. Only 6 or so buds on my first year of flowering Guernsey Cream clematis, I pinched the smaller buds off this year as I want most of the growth to go into establishing the plant.
  • This is Clematis montana Freda - my favourite. I love when it's in bloom.

Anyone could help with an ID? It's flowering now (or just starting, but judging from other plants in the garden it's 2-3 weeks ahead of its normal flowering period).
I tried to check Taylor's clematis and some other sites for all May flowering/early group 2 clems but haven't find anything similar enough.
