My Petunia Tidal Red Velour are small with just one or two flowers opening and quite a few buds. If I insert a frame similar to yours @Picidae will they automatically climb up it? At the moment some of the plant stems are 6 or 8 inches and are draping over the pots - how tall can I expect them to grow if I train them up the frame?
Guernsey Donkey, I don’t do anything to encourage the petunias to grow up the peony supports other than tucking stems inside the frame to stop sprawling. By the end of summer the plant had reached over 3’ though the first 12” of that was the height of the pot.
I am so pleased that with encouragement from this forum and some careful nurturing I now have half a dozen pots of the most gorgeous Petunia Tidal Red Velour. Expensive seeds - yes, touch and go germination - yes, but all well worth the effort. Thanks to those who have grown this lovely red petunia and to Monty Don for introducing it to me. Now - can I save seed for next year? At the moment I am dead heading each individual flower when it wilts. Are the seed easily collected?
Glad yours have arrived- Here’s mine - doing fine 😀
@Marran. I would be interested to see how yours grew on, I don’t like those tea bag pods and always remove them if I buy a plant grown in them, how did yours do?

They look great Guernsey Donkey2. Well done. They are a beautiful flower when in full flow. Mine have done well again this year. A few pics below:
I also had them in hanging baskets above a drain and look what happened.

So it means that they come true from seeds? I mean if they selfseed everywhere and look just like the parent plant? I think I will be getting some seeds for the next season.
I’ve been really disappointed with my various petunias this year. After seeing these successes I think I may give them a go if I can find the seed. Thanks for the inspiration.
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
As yet I haven't worked out how to collect the seed from my TRV petunias - once the flowers die I have been removing them but can't see any obvious seed to collect for next year. Can you help @Kili - are your plants perennial or grown from seed each year - they look fabulous don't they.

the seeds on the petunias are easy to see, if they are the type that seed. I’ll take a photo tomorrow.
