  • Commiserations, @B3.  I might adopt your broom idea...

Best of luck with downsizing, @rowlandscastle444.  It'll be worth it in the end!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

A bit dangerous on a  hard floor. Abandoned broom and grabbed hold of sink and window sill in the bathroom.  Hobbling about unaided now.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • I can empathise with you @B3
You must be so careful, not to make things worse, while trying to exercise each day. I have been known to grab hold of something to steady myself, and go toppling with it!!

I now have a stick permanently in the car, for when I go out with my wife. I have two sticks in the house. One upstairs, one downstairs. I also have a fourth one for the garden/outside. Lessons learned!!!

Is your new home a bungalow?
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • It will be. With no intention to build into the roof. Maybe to extend, but the first thing will be to settle in. Then boiler, heating and kitchen.

No chance of falling down the stairs so long as you don't go in the attic😊
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • That's where the problem lies. My wife doesn't like going into the attic, because of the ladder.
I don't mind going into the attic, because I'm basically unafraid of heights and a stubborn individual. Doctors tell me not to, but . . . . . 😇  🤕
My wife made me promise her that I wouldn't go into the loft (attic) unless there was someone else around, OR unless it was an emergency. I don't see how someone else being around will prevent me from hurting myself, other than them attempting to soften my fall.
Of course, I've not yet been asked to clarify what an emergency is, and I've not asked her to clarify it either.
To me, any time I go up is an emergency, or urgent at the very least.

If you are attacked by gravitational forces, there will be someone there to call for an ambulance.

"gravitational forces"?  Now that's a new one on me! 😂
But yes, you're right. I've fallen further before, and remained in control of my consciousness.
    In pain, but conscious.
  • It's a little after 4am. Why can't I just stay asleep all night?
It's quiet outside. A rare thing in this town. I can hear the wind - or is that my stomach!!
Am I making sense? How will I know if (when) I start to lose my marbles? What are the early signs?
    Wife says I'm mad already!!
