Are you awake?

  • Sometimes, it all happens at once. Had an 'urgent' call from the hospital today, to discuss my recent scans. (Why couldn't this wait for two weeks, when I have my next appointment face to face?)
Good news. Not got sleep apnoea. NOT got a recurrence of my brain abscess.
However, they have noted that I have a significant infection in my sinuses, which is probably the cause of my sleeplessness and headaches. Oh, and said infection is longstanding, and was the cause of my brain abscess more than 47 years ago.
So nothing to worry about, really!!
Oh, and could I come to the hospital in two days, rather than wait two weeks!
Just had another phone call from the hospital (actually, the doctor), who has confirmed that he WILL see me tomorrow. What time?
Apparently, whatever time suits me? So I said 11am (patient transport normally pick up four hours in advance).
Rang patient transport. Was told that the cutoff time for booking next day travel, is midday.
But, they have organised it, because I'd only just been advised.
So, the NHS can be good. It does work well - sometimes.

Good luck and fingers crossed for you @rowlandscastle444🤞
  • Thank you @Songbird-2
Trying to have an early night because the alarm will go at 5:40am tomorrow. If the last couple of months are anything to go by, then I'll be awake long before that anyway.

Most things went well yesterday. In fact, I was fast tracked through appointment with Dr, hastily organised CT scan, blood tests, discussion with senior neurologist, and provided with prescription, before being escorted ON FOOT across four lanes of traffic on a busy London road, by a member of the patient transport crew, who stopped double decker buses and other vehicles. She just walked out into the road fearlessly, so I could hobble across to the waiting ambulance.

Okay, so the doctor had only been handed results of tests two days ago, that were done four months ago. He was concerned enough to get me in - for more tests!! So what's going on, I'm not sure, and no-one was really forthcoming yesterday, despite my direct questions. THAT is what concerns me.

I guess I'll be told, when the doctors are certain.
