Thank you all, for your kind wishes. We did have a lovely day made even more enjoyable by the sunny weather. In days of old we would have gone out for a meal or spent time with family but as I can no longer go further than the bottom of the garden (on a very good day a little ride in the car) we spent the time at home. However I have a beautiful garden here which is a fabulous tonic for anyone to enjoy.
Helped hubby start to set up a watering system yesterday, then went for a drive to a little place called Easton Walled Gardens. Today am visiting the Newark Garden Show, must remember a hat as it got really warm yesterday and is supported to be hotter today.
I ran away from the bees we disturbed nesting in a compost bin so repotted an olive bush on the other side of the house, using J.I. No. 3 and watered it really well as it was very dry. Then I pruned my topiary 'dragon' because it was overhanging the steps. Retreated inside when it reached 26.2 c.
Adopted mother in laws garden now as she not up to doing mich any more, but still enjoys it and we dont have one in central London. Planted up the new raised beds the OH built over winter with grasses, Helianthos, Rudebckia, Echinacea, Monarda. And a third one for veggies, onion sets, kohlrabi, carrot, beetroot, leeks have gone in. OH mowing the grass now in the evening sunshine, lovely. Birds singing, a real paradise.
Sowed tomato and runner bean seeds. Moved various pots around the garden, and washed a few more pots and seed trays. Dahlias and begonias in the greenhouse have started to shoot like crazy, must keep an eye on the watering. Blackbird has been singing away all afternoon.
It's been a beautiful day. Didn't do too much as I actually decided to sit in the garden and enjoy it for a change. I did prune the winter honeysuckle and trimmed the penstemmons back. Then I removed some of the weed from the pond being careful not to hurt any of the tadpoles. Disturbed a small baby frog but don't think it came from my pond as they are all still at the tadpole stage. Fed the clematis plants and the bulbs. Wont be doing much tomorrow as Secondborn and the grandsons are coming over for a BBQ as it's Jonah's third birthday.
Mostly just sat outside today but did mend the pond filter, moved a fern to the shady border and edged the lawn (well most of it - got a bit hot!). Had to water stuff this evening.
Spent a little time at the allotment this morning filled three grow bags with compost transplanted three tomato Sun gold into these. Watered all seedlings and plants in poly tunnel. Lupin and mixed flower seed has started to germinate outside watered all these and the pot plants also damped down compost heap did a bit more strimming around plot.
Then spent the afternoon sat on the terrace and watched the mad people on the beach, and all the colourful sailing boats. 🍷🍷😎
