Hope both of you heal quickly. At least it's a bit cold to go out and garden.
Having said that, a much nicer day, up to 7c and with sunshine. I bit the bullet and moved some snowdrops into better places, I know I should have waited but the clumps are only just breaking through so I thought they wouldn't notice!
This afternoon , bought 3 bags of slate chips to finish off our new soak away on front lawn , however , wasn’t enough , so need to go back to B & Q for more bags of slate chips Also tidied up 2 clematis balls ie in hanging basket
Weather dry , 3 degrees this morning and got up to 5 , this afternoon
I had an hour in the garden, had a bonfire of paper and cardboard. Very satisfying. I did a tiny bit of weeding a slate chipping path near the rotary dryer. Topped up the pond. It felt lovely to be outside doing something, not a lot, just a little! but my hands hurt with the cold. After the dog walk I went to the local farm shop to stock up on logs and fuel ready for the incoming cold snap. Now I can batten down the hatches and hibernate for a few days. Lizzie I am sort of OK. i am still struggling with the side effects of some of the medicationss I have been prescribed. The breathlessness is not going to improve so I have to adjust my activities to what I can manage.
A balmy -10C to start the morning. We had snow squalls all afternoon yesterday, which are becoming more of a standard every winter. A few years ago I was crossing the road to get to the mailbox and a squall came out of nowhere, and I couldn't even see two feet in front of me. The winds that come with it sound like a freight train is bearing down upon you, it's pretty surreal. I remember thinking about the stories I'd read of the farmers in the plains states, who would tie ropes between their houses and barns so as not to get lost in a squall. Luckily they only last a few minutes at most here. At any rate, no gardening to be had outdoors, so I transplanted my yarrow seedlings to three inch pots. This morning they're looking very happy, so timing was perfect. I sowed some verbena seeds, as well. If they germinate this will be my first experience with Verbena bonariensis, and I'm very excited to add them to my hillside garden. I've let the back section stay fairly wild there; my mother's gardens are just over the stone wall and when thinning plants she would toss bulbs or masses over the wall, and many took root. After I cleaned out the invasives, those plants thrived. It's mostly daffodils, orange daylily, creeping bellflower, and Autumn Joy sedum, but it's pretty in bloom. I've added more spring bulbs and eryngium, so the verbena should look nice among that chaotic mess.

Glad to hear you're ok @Joyce Goldenlily. I sympathise with the breathlessness as I suffer the same. As you say, little and often seems to work best. Sunny but very cold this morning with a bitter wind so no gardening today.
So glad I don't live where you live @CrankyYankee, couldn't cope with your temps at all.
Nothing going on here. Too cold. Freezing hard. There is water pouring across my front area, I think my neighbours outside tap has burst. We have just had a flurry of snow, I am trying to summon up enough energy to walk the dog. Lovely sunshine though. Nice to look at from indoors.

So nothing to be done today except to top up the bird feeder with suet pellets, mealworm and warm water.
The robin is happy at least. He's normally quite shy but hung around whilst I filled the water this morning, he must be thirsty.
