I wish there was someone to give me a shove outside today. There are several jobs I'd like to do but inclination is sadly lacking. It's dry at the moment but it's windy and I loathe working in the wind.

  • I am just about to go out into the cold to do a bit more tidying up. The incentive is not there @Uff but it is bin day is tomorrow .🥶
My hubby says that cleaning the bowl is his perk to washing up for me @Joyce Goldenlily so you are not alone. 😁 Mind you the baking is for his pack up, a ginger cake, but I did do bread as well.
  • @Joyce Goldenlily @purplerallim, but you have to lick the bowl, that's part of the reason for baking cakes! My husband doesn't get a look in edgeways, mine all mine

I'm waiting till this afternoon before venturing out. The ground froze overnight but I want to get the lawnmower's wires round the new trees and reconnected. The forecast for next weeks looks like grass (and weed) growing temperatures.

@NormandyLiz this is something I've never heard of, can you explain?  Are the wires a guide of sorts?

I'm eyeing up the sunshine and really want to go outside and do something! Might just amble around the garden and watch the bulbs growing.
North East Somerset - Clay soil over limestone
  • Did go out but am now back. My stamina is alot less after last year's bad health, so I do what I can when I can.
No frost last night and bright sunshine. Ground very wet, so no going on the lawn to cut back the last rose. Did cut down the Autumn Raspberries, they were already budding, so good job I did. Then went in front garden took the tips off the new last year Twice in a Blue Moon roses, and savaged the grape hyacinth again! No matter what you do they come back in force!! The last front rose is a large bush yellow ( name unknown) and had long canes from the late flowers to cut back. Now I'm done.

Ah but it's a good way to bribe him to do the washing up @NormandyLiz 😉

It's a robotic mower (ours is named Cedders). Like this

    https://www.gardenersworld.com/reviews/lawn-care/best-robotic-mowers/

We got it while the house was still a second residence, hoping that we'd be able to just leave him to mow while we weren't here. It didn't quite work out as the lawn is very uneven and on quite a slope in places. However, now we live here full time he is brilliant and saves a good couple of hours a week on lawn mowing.

What that article doesn't say is that you and all your friends will spend those couple of hours watching your robo mower and, I confess, talking to him.

Totally brilliant bit of kit, and he's a happy bunny now his wires are all reconnected (see, I told you, he's got feelings).

Yes I have, and I feel a little bit smug about not being lazy, lol!
Went to weed a very small bed which had a covering of grass, ended up doing another large bed too - and finding about 20 Spanish Bluebells coming up from bulbs I missed last year. 😄
  • I was stopped gardening last weekend as daughter was visiting  @GWRS  😡 housework !
