@Glenjjones , hello sounds just like it was before I retired , in the winter went to work in the dark and came home in the dark
And hope it wasn't raining on Sunday but have to stay positive
    Best wishes

@Glenjjones - clearing out the shed sounds like the perfect job for a rainy weekend!

It dried up enough to allow me to get outside and move a rose bush, also did a bit of weeding. Robin was having a good search through the soil.
There are buds on my hellebores as well.
This mild weather is good for getting outside but l'm trying hard not to be led into a false sense of security.

It was dry with some sunshine around lunchtime so I did yet more rose pruning, this time on the wall bed which necessitated getting the small stepladder out. Rose Penelope is one of my favourites, a lovely peachy-pink colour as are the hips. I also started cutting back the hellebore leaves as the buds are coming through and OH finished the shredding of the apple tree prunings. A very productive couple of hours.

You are not alone! My shed sounds like yours.

I am itching to get outside to do something but it keeps raining or some other activity crops up

I went out for an hour or so, cut back a load of soggy dead stuff and dug out some dandelions.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • I managed a lovely beach walk with the dog before it began to drizzle. It has been peeing down since I got home.
Had some soup and a piece of Christmas cake before going to sleep for a couple of hours. It is still pouring, nearly dark so no gardening, yet again.

I managed a hour or so this morning, fortunately it was dry and even had some sunshine. Still pruning roses! I think I've only got another half a dozen to do.

Really annoyed to find more small bulbs dug up and actually counted 5 squirrels in the garden yesterday!
