More mulching of the beds. Watered all the seedlings and the carrots, peas, broad beans and onion sets. I can't believe how dry out garden is

Might have to retire a little Azalea as it was a bit lame last year and nothing much to it this year. I’ll dig that out tomorrow.
'Retire' sounds so much kinder than 'get rid of.' I must remember that in future.
I helped a symphoricarpus into retirement today......might persuade another one tomorrow.

I sat and watched hubby water very dry pots, dead head some daffs, then prep pots for me to prick out the cucumbers and tomatoes that he had looked after very well in my week in hospital. That was all I could manage,  but it was so good to be outside.

Planted out the hydrangeas and euphorbias I bought last weekend, and potted on some Ammi visnaga I sowed last year, then mowed the lawn.

Everythings getting quite dry. I watered all my outdoor pots, gave everything in the greenhouse a good soak, as well as anything in the ground that I've planted in the last few months.

Up with the larks and did some more mulching. We lost 4 stands of cardoons this winter no idea why it's never happened before so I transplanted some from other areas. Moved a chamaerops humilis from a perennial bed into my jungle plot, unwrapped the tree ferns and polled the Paulownia tomentose trees. Moved the earliest potatoes out of the shed into the greenhouse, there's some nice shoots showing

More mulching here as well, after I'd got the hosepipe out and watered the flower bed.
Dug up an old Algerian Iris, replanted one bit in a different sunnier area and potted up two bits for daughter. Retired - very tired. Looking forward to a glass of cold white wine in a minute.

    Planted out the broad beans
Repotted some agapanthus which were in cracked pots
    Pinched out my sweet peas

  •  Scarified the lawn today after putting down lawn sand just over a week ago. 8 trugs full of thatch/moss removed yet the lawn looks remarkably ok! Watered the pots too as they were getting a bit dry.
  • Over the past few days I cleaned out my garden shed, it's been about 10yrs since the last clean out. Amazed that I can fit my snow blower, lawn mower, my two bikes and all my gardening equipment in it now. Raked up the back lawn and have been taking the seedlings out to my greenhouse everyday. Soon I'll keep the heaters on over night and leave the plants out there. It's going to snow overnight, that's a normal spring here in Calgary.

I sowed some perennials. Still resisting the urge to get the tomatoes and tender basket/bedding plants in.
We've some rain in the forecast this week so if it obliges, next weekend will be a major mulching session.
