Our allotment site gets it delivered from a local stable and you just go and collect it from the communal heap

Too windy to do anything outside, so in the greenhouse tidying up and checking on over wintering plants. It feels nicely warm in there today . Must get a thermometer this year so I can keep a better check on temp.

GWRS, I think transport is probable the issue with the local stables I think the girls just rent the fields so probable don't have trailers, not a problem for me as I have to pass on the way to the allotment so if I need and see a few bags by the gate I pick them up.

I believe you can order a delivery from our allotment store not sure where that comes from and you do have to pay.

Just been to the allotment very windy was OK in the poly tunnel but could not get the enthusiasm this morning so just had a check around and came home. Did get a lovely bunch of daffodils from the lady a few plots over she was cutting hers all off to take home as she said "they were only being blown over and damaged there at least she could enjoy them at home".

Trying to motivate myself to get out and sort the greenhouse out as I will have to move seedlings in there fairly soon (running out of space in the conservatory)  I have quite a few borderline hardy plants in there But I think they will be ok in a sheltered spot now and I have some fleece should the weather forecast indicate a cold spell.

Lovely spring day here. I scarified my lawn, 12 bin bags of dead moss and thatch. Then i reseeded (probably a bit too early) and topdressed with compost. I am now absolutely exhausted. I hope the effort will be worth it though.
  • Dug a hole for the new rambling rose that has been ordered.  At the moment it is roughly 12 inches deep although I now realize I will have to dig deeper to be able to add manure and grit - how deep should I dig? I also deadheaded daffodils, planted two echiums which I hope will help to screen neighbours building site and generally tidied as much as I could.

Too wet today to do anything, other than dash outside to put the lid on the compost bin which I'd forgotten to do yesterday. I did manage to rake out some of the debris from the hedge base yesterday and sprinkle Growmore around and happy the rain is now watering it in for me. Not so happy when I realized that as I was bending over, I didn't notice I'd accidently tipped the box up so it was pouring out the lid! Oh well.

Three hours of miscellaneous tidying up some of last year's old perennial stems, pulling ivy and brambles out of the hedge bottom and yet more digging out Spanish bluebells.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

just in from a session in the greenhouse~( a tad too windy for outdoor work!) ~pricked out and potted up all my tomato seedlings ~four varieties~ also tithonia seedlings~ and prepared trays with seed compost  and placed in heated tray, ready  for more seed sowing tomorrow.
”looked at” the mountain of work that still needs tackling outdoors~now in for a cuppa.

You and me both! I'm starting to come round to the idea of a low-yield thermonuclear device ...
