Lovely warm day so out doing jobs around the garden. Brought yesterday's purchases into back garden, added manure to potatoes bed and recovered it to await main crop potatoes. Prepared side bed and planted strawberries that had overwintered in pots from runners taken last September. Transplanted London Pride and Lily of the Valley into a trough, so I can keep the soil on the acidic side. Moved some foxgloves into better positions. That's it back has had enough came in for lunch and pain killers.😖
Bit of pottering this afternoon. Indoors removed gardening togs and washed hands then just as I had finished postman arrived with 200 snowdrops! That's tomorrow sorted
Popped out and sowed hardy geraniums while I was waiting for the oven to heat up at lunch. Fingers crossed they germinate, I've heard they can be tricky.
Then spent half hour cutting back the grasses. I tried to go down little by little with the hedge trimmer (as recommended by @Loxley) but not sure if a lot of it has been left too big to leave it as a mulch.
Managed to get a bit more done today despite feeling a bit rough after the jab. Created a second raspberry bed and planted new rose Eustacia Vye. Removed all the dead vegetation from the greenhouse plants and watered them.
Moved clematis in pots from behind greenhouse and pruned them. Moved pots of bulbs that are just coming into flower so that they can be seen.General pottering. Quite a few bees buzzing around and a Robin singing away.
@Yviestevie , hello , had the jab last week on Thursday a bit rough on Friday a bit grotty on Saturday but completely fine by Sunday , hope all’s well with you Long hard day at allotment , in need of dinner & beer 🍺
I managed to give the grass its first cut ever. It was laid mid November and today it was time to get the old lawnmower out. It doesn't look the best and is a bit patchy in places but on the whole its looking good.
Then I jet washed the patio areas.
I also managed to re-pot an Azalea and a clematis plug into bigger pots. I think thats me done for the week now.
So yesterday I completed the new greenhouse, it's been I real battle of wills (I could go on at length about inadequate instructions but hey who cares) but I'm looking forward to it being full of tomatoes now. Mrs Wilderbeast and I have had another redesign so today I built another raised veg bed with 1 more to go in when I scrounge more wood. Cleared all the leaves from the hellebores and started on the ferns. After all that I knocked down our old boundary wall and made a start digging foundations for the new extension, the fun never ends
And I thought I had had a busy day @Wilderbeast . Spread 10 bags of manure, cleared up after the tree man trimmed the rowan/ivy and moved more pots including resiting a 6ft hollow tree trunk that we use as a planter. Mulching the beds is the one garden job that I dislike, glad it's over for another year.
Hello , went to allotment this morning and planted a Cheery Tree & Black current bush that we where given Heard the noise of lawn mowers @Wilderbeast , just being nosey , what about a picture of g/h ?
