More harvesting than gardening, new potatoes, salad leaves, radish, first mini marrows, rhubarb, strawberries, made up a nice 3 course meal, each course with elements from the garden, salad starter, stuffed marrow and rhubarb crumble, real favourites of mine.

Actual gardening, sowed some Cauliflower and Purple Sprouting Broccoli seeds in modules for the propagator. Transplanted Brussels Sprouts from nursery bed, me thinking 'oh it is nice and cool and overcast so it would be a good time', of course as soon as they were in the sun came out blazing hot for an hour so they all went droopy. Hopefully they will be looking better in the morning, gave them a good soaking.

Trying to get my lawn back on track on cutting on the highest setting once oer week at the moment...the new seed isnt germinating though, but I cant cover it.  Next weeks heat wont help, I may have to just give up and try again in autumn.

    Any tips for floppy lavender?

JoeX , you could cut the lavender , I’m having to use grass seed on patches of the lawn (from last years sewage flood ) and pleased to say it’s worked I have been watering it when it’s hot , put some more down on patches this week , fingers crossed 🤞

Lovely sunny 😎 day off to allotment for a few hours shortly ,to see what’s what , not been for a few days due to weather
Looking foreword to next weeks sun ☀️

Purplerallim , wonder why the tip  is now so fussy ? It only seems to encourage the idiots who fly tip !

True @GWRS When we were chatting to the guy there, he said he was fed up as the tip was so quiet. Alot of slots are being taken and then no one turns up. He also said that Sleaford tip next week might be going back to all rubbish every day.

@AnniD went out and checked my clematis, no sign of life.  Great to see the new growth on yours......

Just a bit of deadheading/cutting back today. I was doing the front when a chap stopped, admired my poppies (they're just the single plum-coloured opium poppies, nothing special) and asked if I could save him one when they set seed. I said of course I will. How nice that someone takes the trouble to stop and comment.
In other news our green bin collection starts again this week. Only once per four weeks for now but they say they're hoping to get back to normal (fortnightly) in a couple of months.

I cleared a small patch which is my ‘experiment’ and annual area. It was supposed to be a wild flower patch but they never took, apart from some Nigella, and there are some Alliums in there. I have cleared it now to make way for something to last the Summer. I did Cosmos last year, which were lovely.

Youngest boy wonder had me up at 430 so after a brew I went out and planted 30 cosmos and tidied up the beds. Built an extra compost bin as im out of room (4 full now I'm definitely obsessed). Took out weeds and damaged  foxgloves in the main. Mowed the lawns and added all the waste to the compost bins and turned them all.

Haven't decided what to do today yet - having a coffee after returning from newsagent.
Yesterday I removed a ramshackle temporary dwarf fence around the bird feeder area, dug a trench along the lawn side, dup up 4 or 5 purple heucheras from the far side of the lawn and planted them in the trench, then ridged them up. Hope is to stop the birds, particularly pigeons, from kicking all the bark mulch under the feeders all over the lawn. Cue some very surprised pigeons this morning, really funny to watch. I wasn't sure whether they'd just waddle all over the plants, so interesting experiment.
