Potatoes planted this morning. Charlottes, 2nd earlies. Some in the smaller raised bed, soil really good to work when I lifted the weed membrane up. Then 2 potato bags sat on the slabs next to the greenhouse.

Then I went round with the edging tool, again. Another bed extension starting, oops.
Did collect the lawn edge trimmings from the other day & weeded as I went round. Redid by various slabs too so much neater.
Used the border fork to carefully start to lift the other re-edged areas. That way the turf (scrub) will dry out more & be lighter to lift, I hope.

Then I sat out with my book whilst OH cooked tonight’s meal.

Dug up and divided 12 large hosta clumps only moved them 1ft apart am trying to fill the ground cover of my tropical area. Then planted 5 sum and substance hosta and 5 Francis William. Divided up my variegated arum in the same area. Messed with compost bins for a bit, I simply don't have enough room to cook, turn and mature the stuff 😭😭

Not sure it counts as gardening, a happy afternoon with screwdrivers and a claw hammer, dismantling old fence panels.  I leant them against the side wall of the garage, but the winter wind kept blowing them against the neighbours' nice new fence, so I'm taking them apart for firewood so the fence won't get damaged.

Husband took apart a swing seat as some of the wood was bad. From the seat he has made a bench seat.😁

Just finished planting up a delivery from Thompson and Morgan ( offer from a gardeners world mag) of six each plugs of Echinea primadonna rose,  Verbina Buenos Aires , Delphinium blue and white bee, Danthus rocking red, Salvia salvatore blue, and Achilla cerise queen. All look quite healthy,  even though the packaging was a little flimsy and they came snail mail.

Cold easterly, so went and got some horse muck. That's it, no rush in the garden this year, there will be better days.

I rushed out early (for me!) and dragged some pots out from under the eaves overhang so they could have a good soak in the rain. Then it did rain (yippee) most of the day.

So planted out a dozen each of fennel and Nigella plants, divided 2 huge achillea's in 3 and replanted, divided a grass and replanted. Finished a pergola and made a shade that easily moves to follow the sun. Went out after evening shower with a brew and sectaurs in dressing gown (it's proper fashionable you know) and hard pruned sambuca Nigra and several bushy salvias, the salvias have been neglected as we had no idea how to prune them.

Up at 630 and had a mega planting session, aqueligia, nigella, eryngiums, verbena, phlox, salvias, Centurea Montana, pulminaria, cardoons and hardy geraniums. Moved and split a huge stupa grass that was swamping a corner
All watered in and time for breakfast, then I have collect the pots and do the other side of the garden.
