Allotment Boy that looks a nice garden looked it up, hope to go to plot tomorrow very windy today then be windy on Sunday
Zoomer when I get my glass gh up on plot will be good mainly only have plastic gh but are so good do really well - think if I had a plastic one on plot it would have to be well tied down so not to blow away, garden more sheltered
Allotment this morning just generally tidying around, and I think I have come up with the solution to stop my cloches blowing away.
I fill old 4lt milk bottles with sand, then tie two bottles together by there handles with 6mm nylon rope the rope then fits tight over the cloche with a bottle on either side these are then spaced along the run.
I did a few experiments this morning as it was quite breeze and seemed to work fine I will take a photo next time I'm at the allotment.

Got into the greenhouse, plugged in the radio and started potting up some bare root hardy geraniums. Also emptied out some of the pots of bulbs l had in there that came up "blind". They are a few years old, so it's a good excuse to buy new ones in the autumn. It's still a bit chilly with a cold wind, so l am still going to hold off the seed sowing. It was nice to be back in there with the radio on, and my blackbird friend sitting on the roof hassling me for more food !
No gardening today as its painting group day. This weekend will have to get on with anything that needs doing as it's going to be windy, and on Sunday they are forecasting a day of sleety hail!🤔
That isn't a great forecast purplerallim - I hope you manage to get out between the showers. This morning I planted up 6 more plants that I have grown from seed sown last Autumn - Knapweed, Harebells, Ragged Robin (white flower) and foxgloves. That is my lot for the wild flower bank, so just need to scatter the wild grass seed between these plants now. Hoping for a good display here and some butterfly & bee visitors during the coming months.
Went to Allotments to try out new society rotavator. It did very well but the ground was a bit too wet & it got a bit bogged down. Took longer to clean it that to do the job!
Hello all , really good talk last night on fruit trees & bushes from the Owner of Scothern Nurseries , who certainly knew his stuff , have bought items in past from them and excellent , for those in Lincolnshire’s would recommend a visit I want some good quality Apple trees so going for 2 year old M27 root stock , so grows no bigger than 6 ft , Variety Scrumptious or Discovery for allotment , current ones are hopeless H Hog , I have rope tided to bricks 🧱 and looped over clouches and never had one blown over , so you should be ok Had a good few hours at allotment today , main jobs where to plant 2 Black Berry stems in fruit cage and more staining of sheds
Showers every 10 mins or so it seemed. No sooner got out all togged up then had to retreat back in again, most frustrating! Did manage to prune and tie in new shoots on clematis 'Polish Spirit' which has already started shooting well up the wall. Pondered the advisability of trying to dig out a big old box bush (part of the hedge recently pruned). Too hard a job for me now so will see what the hedgeman says.
Cold today so didn't get anything done. Managed to visit Ashwoods and get a pot for the Komo no mai I bought the other day. Got seduced into the tea room by a gooseberry scone with clotted cream and jam (yummy). Weather looks better tomorrow so plan to pot on some seedlings. Hope the sleet doesn't reach here.
