Been tipping down here. Looking out of the back window, half a veg patch is flooded due to the volume of water running off the back porch roof. The guttering/drainpipes can't cope. The french dwarf beans may be done for this year. Got peas in the other half so fingers crossed that they don't drown.
I only had an hour late morning when it was dry enough and not so windy so deadheaded and took off the BS leaves from roses. Glad I cut a few of my favourite blooms before this wind took them off! I've got a lovely bush called Carpenteria californica which has spectacular white blooms in the summer but is a very messy straggly bush. It's leaning away from the wall and over the path so I need to devise some method of keeping it upright. Originally I tied it to the trellis on the wall but it pulled the trellis off. Might try a strong metal stake each side with rope between them.

After tipping it down, it got torrential followed by a downpour. Yet, Storm Francis hasn't quite reached us yet!
I'll leave it until tomorrow before donning the flippers to go and inspect the damage.
Or go out when my mini greenhouse blows flat on its face!
My own fault really as there wasn't much weight in there recently - I'd planted out most of the stuff I had in there. Probably lost a few cuttings and a number of small cabbage, lettuce, radish and rocket plants. Salvaged two strawberry plants and then put everything else (including the cover) in the shed. The frame is intact but lying in disgrace naked on the patio. On the plus side, there wasn't anything I'd paid for in there
Recycled an lack of quality shower curtains rail. Drilled a load of holes into it and cut it down and used it as irrigation tubes. Nearly all the plants have now got one. Pruned my Fuchsia that’s giving me a hard time. Seemed to get loads down after yesterday’s windy lock-in.
Spent today sorting out the mess made by my blowaway blowing away. Have repotted a couple of the cuttings that had actually developed some roots, put some other stuff in the ground and cleaned up all the soil and other debris. Trimmed off all the snapped foliage on the potato plants and added a few more supports to the peas. Treated myself to the contents of my first ripe pod whilst I was at it!

Think I'm going to need some mini sand bags in future.
Fingers crossed the salvaged plants survive.
