Pulled out as many of the spanish bluebells as I could. The garden was covered with them when we bought the house three years ago. But I have an ambitious plan to remove all the spanish ones and plant native ones instead. Luckily there are plenty of other flowers in the garden at the moment, so I was not depriving insects of the food source. Weigela will be starting soon, so they are all set 😊
Asked the guys lopping down the tops of the trees on my estate to give me a load of wood chips! My kids did not appreciate being roped into helping barrow it all into place!
Which begs 2 questions:
1. Can i put this in my compost to mix with the grass as brown stuff? 2. Can i use this as a mulch on my needs where I've just planted perenials?
Dead headed daffodils, amazed to find quite a few more still coming out into flower. Started putting York stone around the pond edge, tadpoles are growing and we've got loads of pond skaters now. Turned and mixed in grass clippings to a compost bin, had to water it too as it was so dry. Sowed a row of radish and a tray of peas for peashoots. Blackbirds are burying newly planted perennials in the winter/spring garden with mulch so had to uncover them.
Winter spring garden planted up and new pergola in place
@moiz.ak you can definitely add to the compost heap you need lots of greens to add to it to break it done. There's divided opinion on putting fresh chippings onto newly planted areas so best not to

Thanks! The council aren't collecting garden waste so I'll be tipping all the grass cuttings in there with it.
Glad i asked about using them for mulch, as i did have some of it ear marked for just that. How long should i let it break down before using it as a mulch?
Moiz ak , I would not put fresh wood chipping on to flower 💐 beds either Let them rot down for a few months and or add to general compost bins We get them delivered free to allotment site , although it seems to have stopped at moment , I use them on paths

Planted teasles and foxgloves in the meadow area hopefully we'll have some self seeding. Nordman for that we were given has gone into that area too.
It's power wash time now then planting later
