Tree work all done, bonfire of brash smoldering away gently so took a load of household junk to the tip, sorry Household Waste Recycling Facility.

Got back to a phone call from OH from the Royal Surrey A&E in Guildford. Slipped playing tennis and has broken her wrist again, ouch! I should get a season ticket for that place, I was there only yesterday for my own fifth visit of the year. Now waiting to hear that she is ready to be picked up before I head back up there to get her home.

Thanks BL - and it is gorgeous :). Where is Madame Alfred C?

I enjoyed the Sewing Bee, as always - I have to say, the dress with the broderie anglaise and ribbon was closest to what I remember people wearing in the 70s, although it wasn't as stylish as some of the others. I liked the one with all the darts and lining best.

It does sound ridiculously organised having supports already, but I *always* leave them too late and regret it. Only a few in place, where they're not too conspicuous at this early stage.

Madame Alfred C is on the left climbing up the pillar by the steps. This photo from a bedroom window shows the lower bit.

I enjoyed the Sewing Bee too and the darts dress was my favourite too, better fitting and simpler looking than the others.

The photo has inserted itself into the quote, wonder if it will still be there when I post it?

OH has gone off to Norfolk without me :'(  for a few days, no house sitter and horses and cat need feeding.

Lovely garden @Busy-Lizzie, but it looks as though it's hard work to keep it like that.
I've decided not to open for the NGS any more and feel quite liberated! I can take my time, have major hedge and fence work done without feeling the pressure to get things done. Bliss!

  • @steephill sad ☹️ do hope Mrs S isn’t in too much pain/discomfort and that it mends very soon.

They've just announced that Andre Previn has died. One of the greatest musicians there's ever been, and he always played all the right notes, in the right order.
RIP Mr Preview - thanks for all the music, especially the Gershwin.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Sad about the brilliant André Previn, but I suppose he was 89 and life comes to an end.

Steephill, sorry about your OH, can only repeat what Dove said.

I'm not opening my garden either this year, done it 4 times, too stressful and everyone round here who wanted to see it has seen it. Hardly any French came, despite the publicity.

I know  I'm going to regret it later, but I've just had a very naughty siesta, over an hour.

I thought he was younger than that.   Lovely man with huge talent and a sense of humour.   RIP indeed.
