    14 cms of snow here and has been snowing hard since 8 am. Nothing moving and no sign of anybody. Schools shut as is Bristol and Bournemouth airports. OH likes the snow so is trekking down to the local shops hopefully for the paper. Not me, staying in the warm, watching the birds on feeder. Raisingirl is right, Jamaica Inn is no place to be in the snow, but they opened all night and sheltered over 100 people there, some of whom had walked 4-5 miles. Gen Man. is only 25, she's a star.

  • So sad to hear of the death of Jeremy Hardy. He was a courageous and aware writer and performer and his contribution to radio, tv and journalism was immense. He was the friend of a former colleague and she and her partner said that he was the most humane of beings. We will miss him hugely.
    I like to think that he and Linda Smith are together in a heavenly pub with a few pints, putting the world to rights ... please.

    Oh no - I hadn't heard that news. I don't often listen to the News Quiz these days - I find it a bit too shouty and abrasive to count as entertainment now - but a few years back, Jeremy Hardy, Linda Smith and Alan Coren (who I think may be in that pub with them) used to have me in stitches. There are still a few genuine satirists about, but the number is decreasing, it seems.

    @punkdoc, I've delivered near there, it's a dump
    Jamaica Inn is a lovely place, there’s a gorgeous tiny little church just nearby by, private house now but very pretty.
    I love the moors covered with snow it’s so bleak across Bodmin at the best of times.
    weve been playing outside this morning, we only had about 4/5” but enough to build this snow person.

    Couple of piccys from the house this morning.  We won’t be attempting to drive out today! ❄️❄️❄️❄️⛄️

    Snow in North Dorset and still snowing. It is normally one of my garden days but so was Wednesday when we also had snow so shed already tidy, pots washed and wood cut.

    My OH can’t stay in either, in and out like an Iny outy thing, just pottering letting the cold in every time he opens the back door.

    Lovely snow pictures, especially the deer. There has been torrential rain in Dordogne for the last 2 days, but it's eased off now.

    Local farmer called round with a bag of venison. The chasse had shot it on my land. I'm in two minds about how I feel. They are so pretty but they are such a pest for the local farmers. They also eat my garden.

    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
