Chicklet wasn’t keen on the +40 days - said it was like a ghost town because noone went out. She’s currently shivering in Nottingham, what a difference a year makes 😀. Did the Art Gallery door remain open or shut 🤔
Lovely scenes Liri - picture postcard stuff 🏔. Great to have you back in the pack 😀😀😀
And welcome back Hosta - plant retail therapy sounds a great way to ward off potential post holiday blues. Are your 135 alliums making an appearance yet ?💜
This is the first morning for a while I haven’t had to text Chicklet first thing (she had a diasaster with an alarm clock in first year and missed the first 30 mins of an exam ...since then we have had all sorts of fall back/fail safe plans). She’s all done now .....and only has one more set of exams to face ever 😀😀😀😀
Good morning all Very hard frost here Brrr! Trying to waft some frost in your direction @Pat E
Wonky says Hi to all ... she’s busy with work and family visits, birthdays and ‘stuff’ at the moment ... but she wanted me to say to @punkdoc that she “likes your style”
Im heading into the city for a haircut later today ... I had to cancel my last haircut ‘cos our heating broke down just before Christmas and the engineer was coming ... since then my hairdresser has been on a fantastic holiday in S Africa etc for a Big Birthday. The result is that my hair bears a marked resemblance to a haystack!

Morning all/afties, evening Pat. I really don't envy you those temps. Not funny at all, is it? Still frosty here too, but I don't think there's been any extra snow overnight. Still a bit dark to see. Car will need a wee scrape though, and the roads should be fine, apart from where the burst water main is. I let fairylet drive home yesterday and she was a bit nervous as the little bit of road from work is a bit dodgy here and there, but she was fine. Has to learn to deal with snow/ice sometime Come on Hosta - grow a pair and get stuck in! Hope chicklet's exams go well chicky. Horrible things! Catch you all later - have a good day everyone. Stay warm or cool depending on the location
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Well, this morning's view is rather more restricted... it's misty in the valley and foggy on the hills. @Pat E - agree with you about the up-and-down view, though ours are hills rather than mountains here in the Pennines. Your mountains are rather more impressive! @Fairygirl - there's nothing you'd really call a summit visible in yesterday's photo. The "lump" is called Whirlaw Stones, and is part of Bridestones Moor. There are lots of ancient paved packhorse tracks and old footpaths everywhere, so no excuse for not going for walks straight from the door - and the Pennine Way goes by, a couple of miles away - but there aren't many "walkers' destinations" other than Stoodley Pike.
Good luck to Chicklet!
Hope work isn't too stressful, Hosta. At least customers can admire your tan...
Well done Fairylet. It's unnerving to drive on snow for the first time, but definitely a useful skill to learn.
Hope your ears don't get too cold after the haircut, Dove...
I'm working in the park this morning, if it warms up enough to un-freeze the pile of gravel we're supposed to be spreading...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Ah yes - I enjoyed reading her Guardian pieces. And you're right, it's not sad.
Morning all. Afternoon Pat - hope you're home again and cooling down a bit now.
It's jolly chilly here with some frost, but the sun's out and there have been amazing sunrise photos on local Facebook groups. It was a good one, I'm sorry to have missed it. I was busy this morning as it's Trill's birthday so we had to squeeze greetings and presents in before they both went to school. I now have two teenagers!
I hope the weather's as picturesque down your way Hosta, and that you're driving so you can enjoy it. I hope the weather is kind, if cold, for your gravel-spreading duties too, Liri.
And Hi Wonky, if you're reading .
Amazing that we can be long distance alarm clocks, eh Chicky? Unimaginable 'back in our day' . Enjoy being off duty for a while

First day back to the coalface, but I'm not keen.
