Good morning everyone.   Cold and grey with sunny bits here.   Looks like we've had a damp night.

Sounds like a good deal there BL but maybe a word with the shop about their fitters before you use them again.    Hope the painting goes well.

Nanny B - try and think about the results and not the process and concentrate on happy thoughts or plans while you're in there.

Dove - we have a forecast of intermittent clouds and possible local storms when the eclipse is due.   It's already looking stormy to the east and south which is what I can see from my perch on the sofa.

Hope everyone has a good day today.   Patchwork homework for me getting blocks ready for an all day quilting class on Tuesday.

Morning all. Went back to bed after an early start with cats (😾).
I’ve had two MRIs @Nanny Beach - the staff should be very supportive. I had to “have a minute”  before it started the first time but I definitely recommend closing eyes (keep them closed) and doing breathing exercises. You could speak to your GP about having a diazepam prior to the test too, as will help you feel a bit sleepy (obviously you can’t drive then though).
Have a good day all - whatever you are up too.

    Hi all.
More snow overnight, now just cold and damp.
Back to my book, I think. I am reading Milkman by Anna Burns, one of the best books I have read in a long time.

the noise isnt the problem Lily Pilly,, I have had severe claustrophobia ever since I can remember, and bizzarely, have been in THREE RTCs in entrampments, (someone somewhere doesnt like me!) none of them were my fault, I dont know if it started with the first one, I dont go in planes anymore, as soon as they close those doors I am trapped, complete panic attack, and they are relatively bigger than an MRI scanner, I have to have some light in the bedroom, (I do wear a slik sleep mask) because if I cant see the walls, there are about 2 inches from my face, when I wake up I can see where they are and am OK

    Good morning all  :)

Yay!  A Supermoon tomorrow evening and between 3.30 and 5 am Monday morning we can watch a lunar eclipse and a Blood Moon ... if we’re awake ... and if there’s a clear sky   ...

I will set the clock for 4.30am, if we don’t see this one, we may not ever see another. Next time will be 2021.
Sorry, didn’t mean to sound that morbid, but you never know😀

@Nanny Beach My Mum was very claustrophobic - wouldn't go on planes, had panic attacks more than once that I can recall - usually in a confined space with other people - she'd never get in a lift. She had to have a couple of MRIs and like you, was convinced she'd 'have the screaming ab dabs' but in the event, she was fine. She knew she had to do it, so she shut her eyes, gritted her teeth and got through it. The second time she was relatively relaxed.

We were having damp problems in the bathroom which had me slightly baffled - severe condensation on the cistern dripping on the floor. However the other night just before bed when the house was silent I heard a hiss from the other side of the bathroom which indicated a leak under the floor. So up with the vinyl flooring to reveal the horror of the old leak on one side now forming wet rot and the new leak on the other.

Why is it always the pipes buried in tiled walls that go wrong? Or pipes in the most inaccessable places which need a contortionist to repair them. Previous leaks had rotted some of the floorboards so I had already screwed down new ones making it easier to get the floor up to find the leaks. Emergency plumbing repairs completed successfully, thank heavens for modern push-fit connectors and plastic pipes. Dehumidifier now running to dry the room out. >:)

We seem to have had a few super moons lately starting with the one in November 2016.  The one before that was 1948 according to one website and the next one after this weekend will be 2034.   https://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/moon/super-full-moon.html    Lunar eclipses are a bit more frequent but maybe we should set our alarm too.

Lovely smell of banana cake wafting thru from the kitchen - one plain one and one with ginger as I have two crafty sessions to attend.  Usual guinea pigs on Monday pm plus a whole day with picnic session on Tuesday.

OH has been out and cut down the persimmon tree without telling me so no "before" photo.   Apparently there used to be a real, edible persimmon tree but the previous owners to us cut it down and then left the root stock to grow a multi-stemmed thing.  I thinned it and raised its crown but it is neither use nor ornament as it has no interesting bark, blossom, foliage colour or fruits so now it's gone I hope the bed it was in will be a bit less parched.
