Oooooo ....an enkianthus 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻  I’d completely forgotten, but am now very excited- it goes on my wish list every time I see one at Chelsea (one of the gardens always has one).  Thank you sooo much 😀😀

    Lovely, thanks Chicky.   :)

I will leave it for the winter then dig it up in the spring, it’s yours if it’s rooted and I’m sure it will have.

I've not tried that pub, Chicky. We must give it a try next time we are in town. The usual suspects near to M&S have gone downhill IMHO.
Alternate years  The Park has a gardens open day, and some of the caves that are now used as garden sheds etc are open. Very interesting if you can make it.
It should run this June 2019.

    Afternoon all.

My sister lived in the Park when she was a junior doctor there too. Lovely semi-basement flat, I was only little but I remember it well. Beautiful. Punkdoc, how about you?

Chicky, I am desperate to go to Anglesey Abbey too. Such a difficult journey from here but I've been thinking I might just bite the bullet and do it anyway. Will you start a new Garden Visits thread for the year?

Feeling very low this weekend having learnt that a long time online friend one year older than me died on Friday. I knew it was imminent but it's hit me hard. We weren't close, in fact we'd never met IRL but I've known her 15 years and she had a huge impact on how I looked after my babies. Her poor children (the youngest is 7) and husband :(.

Hubby much better now. After walking for over an hour in 30C+ to find the pharmacy to get some "immodium" we went crazy and took a taxi back to the hotel.
Typically , he's not " been " since we bought the new tablets.

Big hugs LG.  Not good losing a friend so young.

Well done FG.  I expect you'll find a huge list of jibs to do once you've retired and then you'll have the time to do them in more favourable weather conditions.

BL - we don't have a Grand Frais here but I'll try all the big supermarkets and the fresh produce markets too.   I like marmalade for bread and butter pudding, marmalade cake and sometimes even on toast.

Liri - sorry you've been crook and hope it's all cleared up.  I do hate tummy bugs.

Dove and Lyn - you must have been very naughty!

We've been out to some golfing friends of OH - 7 couples and only one othet ladt non-golfer.  Lots of wines, cider, fizz on offer along with several varieties of galette du roi which are very large tarts made with puff pastry and traditionally filled with frangipane but there was also a pear and chocolate filled tart, apple crumble and brioche.  definitely no Veganuary here.

Been a grey day all day and it's a grey night too with no stars and moon and the wind is blowing a hoolie.  They reckon we'll have snow in 9 days' time so we're planning a trip to Nantes for the sales on Wednesday of this week to avoid traffic and gilets jaunes.   We need a new bed and bedding and will have no leccy on Wed pm so may as well go out.

Oops - forgot to thank Chicky for the photos.  Looking forward to more.  Love those birches.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Evening. Hope all tummies and ailments on the mend?
Lovely looking place Chicky - I haven’t heard of it before.
Done a few bits in the garden today and then did some stews for the week whilst watching some catch up TV. Chicken, leek and root veg stew tonight.

My garden and I live in South Wales.

Nice to here the Nottingham stories, I was a junior doctor there for 5 years.
I rented a flat in the Park and the trip to Jerusalem and the Castle were my local pubs.
If you are feeling really flush, i can recommend Sat Bains restaurant.
