glad he’s on the mend @Hostafan1 ... but he obviously needs to take it easy. As for the extended breastfeeding ... unusual perhaps, but not ‘odd’. There’s a wide range of breastfeeding practice nowadays ... different strokes for different folks eh?

interesting distinction between " unusual" and "odd".
Of course, there’s a wide range of ‘odd’ ... I’ ve home across folk who think that breast feeding at any time and in my any circumstances is ‘odd’. I was told, ‘that’s not what my boobs are about’

I took it that your ‘odd’ had a pejorative tone? Would you rather have an unusual Christmas present or an ‘odd’ one?
Sorry I didn't make myself clearer. Certainly not "pejorative" In the great scheme of things I'm sure breastfeeding a child of that age is certainly " uncommon" . Nothing "wrong" with it, but I'd say it's a wee bit "odd"
Good morning all, and afternoon Pat. Hosta it was 13° here yesterday! Have to say it didn't feel it - chilly wind.
Full-term breastfeeding is certainly unusual, given that the UK has one of the lowest bf rates in the world (incidentally - just looked it up - Gambia has one of the highest!). Biologically normal but not socially, I suppose. Fed both mine until 3, and even 'odder' - fed through pregnancy and tandem fed. Possibly the only aspect of parenting about which I have no doubts or regrets whatsoever.
Off on another woodwind-related errand today. Looks like a rather nice day is brewing. Have a good one!

Cold and grey but quiet here after a windy night. Patchwork group this pm and then mosaic classes start again so busy today and a cake to bake for patchwork.
I fed Possum till she was two but it was just a night-time slurp at the end. Just short of turning 2 OH fell downstairs with her in his arms and the neck of her femur was broken - 30th of December so consultant surgeons on hols. The juniors put her in traction so she was lying on her back and couldn't eat normally so the boobs came in handy and I was back in full production for a couple of weeks. The juniors also told me it was the growth point and her leg wouldn't grow properly and she'd be crippled for life. Turned out they were wrong but that left me in pieces of weeks while we waited for the eventual surgery to prove successful. Carrying her around in a plaster cast from her hips to her toes for weeks did for my lower vertebrae. 3 slipped discs. Top surgeon tho and she's fine now and nearly 6' tall.
I hope everyone has a good day and all lurgy or injury sufferers are improving. Miserable time of year to be crook but at least not much gardening to miss.
