Many moons ago (1975 and 76) before I got into computing, I ran the Archaeology and African section in Foyles. Behind me was the Rare Books section so I'd end up selling that stuff too when they hadn't got a minder. Can't tell you how many American interior designers or their clients came in ordering leather bound books by the yard for the colour, not the content.
I organise fiction by author, non fiction by subject. Cookery and gardening books live in the kitchen for easy access with cookery organised by cuisine - British, European, Asian, Veggie etc. I also organise my CDs and LPs alphabetically. How else can you find things?
My Creole cake has just come out of the oven and started to cool. Then I need to hide it from OH for a month while it matures.......

Evening folks - hope all are well. I saw one of those house-makeover progs where they suggested you buy a few books just for the coloured spines and display as a decoration. Really??! I could do with re-organising my/our books as some are still in boxes from when we moved five years ago! Ideally I would like a new bookcase in the spare room for them but never got round to it.
Many years ago when she was very young and full of reforming zeal @WonkyWomble had a boyfriend known now as ‘the horrible M’ ... one day when I was out he rearranged my bookshelves ‘by colour’ ... it began to dawn on Wonky that he was incredibly stupid ...
Time for bed now ... I’ve not had cheese this evening ... just a little slice of stollen ... night night folks ... sweet dreams
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
We have still got chocolates and biscuits from Xmas, as well as a small stollen. I must get my wetsuit out and see if it has shrunk this winter while in the wardrobe. I got a bargain pair of wetsuit boots for a fiver yesterday. My old ones are not dead yet, but I suspect they will be after a bit of climbing over volcanic rocks.
We’ve got a lovely sunny day here today with scattered clouds and about mid 20s. 😃 I couldn’t ask for better. I haven’t checked the rain gauge yet, but I’m sure I’ll behappy, judging by the pools of water laying around.
All your talk of Christmas cakes made me hungry, but I settled for two slices of toast with fresh tomato and basil leaves and a cup of tea. That’s breakfast over and done with. No hot days predicted in the near future.
I’ve been out to check the gauge and the veggie bed, and the raspberries obviously enjoyed those stinking hot days . I haven’t collected any for a couple of days. The little black ants got a few nips in on my arms, but they lost the battle. The berries are MINE!
Lovely crop of Raspberries, Pat. I had some on my porridge yesterday, but they were ones that I froze in the summer. Not quite as good as fresh, but better than nothing.
