That's lovely @Fran IOM and so expertly done. I bet Buddy's dog walker loved it. So many talents on this thread that I feel left out 😀. I did stick a broken jug handle onto a pot yesterday, but nothing as good as the repair shop on tv.
@Purplerain and @AnniD Many thanks for your kind remarks on the blanket. She did like it but Buddy thought the soft toy was for him. Yesterday and today were a continuation of pulling out the lavender. It is hard work. Wouldn't have believed it at first. Have only managed a few more and still even bigger ones to go. But the space it is leaving me! The michaelmas daisies seem a lot happier now they can see the light of day. Have been potting up the Rose Campions which self seeded everywhere. Going to use them as a cover to hide one of my 'eyesore' areas. Have planted out my recent hydrangea purchase so will keep an eye on that. Two other recently planted ones have a beautiful flower each. Still have others in pots but not ready to plant out. Weather stayed dry yesterday and today during the afternoon. Rather windy but not too cold. If it's the same tomorrow it will be a repeat performance. Have ordered some more plants which hopefully will be suited to the new space. Will have to be sensible. Even my pound shop roses are looking good. Maybe I am doing something right.
It has been a very wet day here with a few short sunny intervals, so no gardening done. @Fran IOM , l know what you mean about the Michaelmas daisies, l cleared around mine a few weeks ago, and l noticed today that they've suddenly come to the fore, especially a small flowered white one. It does sound as though you are doing the right thing I did manage to get in the garden during a pause in the downpour (l was actually going to the bin !), and spotted a hummingbird hawk moth among the salvias. Now it has dried up a bit, there are a few bees making up for lost time before it gets dark.
I never thought seeing the rain this morning and the road like a river that I would be on the allotment this afternoon with blue sky, a few white clouds and sunshine. I seem to pick the right time. Potted up another Rose Campion and also a plant I was going to throw away but don't like to when they are still growing. It is rather boring with coloured leaves and not very big but the roots went down such a way I had to find a tall pot. It did grow some long spikes so there must have been some seeds on them as I have found two more growing nearby. (Only threw the label away the other day and can't remember the name). @AnniD If you look at that thread "please help" with the hydrangea and imagine part of that - that is what the hydrangea looked like that I received recently and they said it was fine and plant it out. You can imagine how disappointed I was with it. Yes my michaelmas daisies look very happy now. The other daisy plant I have which is having its second flowering had fallen over as it is too heavy. Tried to support it without much success. Managed to uproot two more lavenders. It's hard to believe that those small plants have taken over and rooted so deep down. I might have a couple of flowers on my Cannas if it's not too late. It's their third year and they have never flowered before. Something else that was going to go but they seem to put a spurt on when I have made up my mind. I realised this afternoon that I have forgotten about the privet hedge. I suppose it can wait a bit longer. The next really dry day I will have to give the grass a final cut before winter. The change in the weather brought the butterflies out. Here's hoping tomorrow will be the same.
Lucky you, seeing a Hummingbird Hawkmoth @AnniD. I have only seen them on Youtube and they are amazing little creatures.
We have had rain on and off today so not much done in the garden. The deep purple aster is out in all its glory, but aster "Jenny" is sulking and not putting on a show yet. I did what I thought was some clever successional planting with it but it's just not playing ball. The buds are there so I might see some colour by Christmas 😀.
You have been busy @Fran IOM but it's a shame about the lavender. If you don't want to replace it, Walkers Low Nepeta is a nice substitute at the edge of the border and their roots are shallow so easy to dig up. I hope your hydrangea recovers and shows some new growth next Spring. You have a good atmosphere for them so hopefully all is not lost.
GW will be on soon, so thanks for the list of subjects @AnniD on the GW thread. Enjoy your evening all.
Here is a pic of the purple aster and now I think about it, I'm sure it was blue last year. Do you know if they change colour according to the soil conditions like hydrangeas?
@Purplerain, l have never heard of them changing colour, and l don't think mine ever have. Just to wet your appetite, here's a link to Old Court Gardens. We went there one Tuesday morning a few years back, and Carol Klein was filming for GW. There are some lovely photos on the "Garden Tour" link - and an online catalogue http://www.autumnasters.co.uk/picton_garden.htm
That was a very interesting tour @AnniD and it shows how lovely Autumn planting can be. I didn't look at the catalogue 😇.
I got lots done today as it was very pleasant weather with no rain. I found a Hosta in a big dark green ceramic pot and I thought to myself "I'm having that" (the pot, not the Hosta) but I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it so divided it into three and planted it in dark and far flung corners for the slugs 😀.
Hope you are all enjoying whatever you are doing, but I have a feeling it's something to do with football.

@Purplerain, even the experts on The Repair Shop had to start somewhere !
