Oh @Valley Gardener how lovely, I'd like to attract some, but the main visitors to my bird feeders are sparrows. (and squirrels 😕)

That's great @Valley Gardener and I'm sure your friend will be delighted to receive it. I wish they had steam trains now as they were so exciting and scary coming into the station. The one thing I hated were the scratchy horsehair filled velvet seats. They looked comfy, but they weren't (showing my age).

@Purplerain, l always remember holding tightly on to my mum's hand as a steam train came into the station. The noise and especially the smell.
I was excited and terrified in equal measure!
  • I have the station at Corfe Castle on live webcam, bookmarked. Its very busy in the other seasons but not so much winter. I suppose the carriages have to be full to make it worthwhile.
Yes I remember the scratchy upholstery, I used to travel to college everyday on the train, till Mr Beeching saw fit to scrap a lot of routes.

@Valley Gardener Job well done there with the train painting. I am sure it will be much appreciated.
Anyone having previously read this thread may think that I have given up gardening on my allotment as I haven't posted in quite some time now. However that is not the case but circumstances won't enable me to do anything at the moment. Had a fall and fractured my hip leading to a partial replacement and now I am on crutches feeling extremely frustrated but health comes first. Not even able to go and have a look as yet as not safe so can only imagine what is going on there. Could be so many things I have missed and would love to know how certain plants are faring especially my hydrangeas. Just hope that I shall be back to normal in the not too distant future. Must just be patient. So glad it's not that time of the year when so much needs attending to. Fortunately got the grass cut before my accident.
Just feel sorry for the birds lacking their sunflower hearts but think there could be lots of other things available for them at present.

  • I hope you are feeling better each day Fran, heres a pic taken last night of Tarw, and the first painting Ive done of a fishermans cottage in Brittany,
with my new water mixable oils......very impressed with the paints.
The sea looks like its going downhill, but its not........Ive checked, somehow the photo has been elongated horizontally, dont know whats happened there! Im pretty useless with the camera!😊😊

It looks fine @Valley Gardener and that sky looks like mine today minus the blue bit. It's nice to see Tarw make an appearance as it is his thread after all 😀.

Hope you are on the mend Fran.
