Glad you got a lot done @Purplerain. I confess, l was watching the Liverpool game 😁. What can l say, l needed a rest ! I shifted 6 big empty pots out of the way to move 5 clematis complete with pots and obelisks behind the greenhouse. I sorted through the old pots of narcissi and replanted the majority, only a few had gone rotten which was a bonus. The Robin was pleased as he (?) was finding all sorts of things to eat where the pots had been. This afternoon l potted up 2 pots of narcissi "February Gold", and 4 smaller pots of "Tete a tete" for the kitchen window box. The rain has held off, fortunately, but although there are a few more things l could do, quite frankly I am knackered. That's the trouble with this time of year, looking at the forecast my next "window of opportunity" is Wednesday. My bulbs from Peter Nyssen are scheduled to arrive next week, and l need to get the wallflowers and bellis daisies sorted out 🤪 Hope @Valley Gardener and @Fran IOM are also having a good day.
Nothing done outside in this neck of the woods as it was very inclement weather. The Virginia creeper has turned a beautiful red in next doors garden, but it's crept over to our side,so must get rid of it,or it will take over. The birds are still feeding well, but no Siskins, they left about 3 weeks ago. Well you've both been very busy, making the most of it,I wonder what @Fran IOM has been up to? I put in 'Minnow' daffs last week, and a few more Alliums. Looks like Wednesday is the next best day for me too!
That's good to see the hog and fat fox in MILs garden, let's hope your boy appears soon @AnniD

The weather was even better today. After other commitments I got to the allotment around 4pm. Not a breath of wind and quite warm. The first thing I had to do was plant out my purchases from SGC which arrived today. Very healthy looking too. There was even a flower on the Rhodanthemum! I managed three of the five as I had to make sure I was planting them in a space suitable for their size. Given the Potentilla plenty of room to spread. Have one with pink flowers and this one has red ones. Even managed to uplift another lavender. (Just lost the rest of my post as it had disconnected from the internet). Another thing I have been longing to do and that is to get rid of the bamboo my son planted. I know it's thuggish and there were little ones popping up all over the place. The roots on that were worse than the lavender and don't know if I have got rid of them all. Put some of the plant into a pot to show willing. After that it was time to leave at 5.30pm. (Didn't like to say anything when he planted it). @Purplerain. Looked up Nepeta and it looks so like lavender. Once I have cleared the space I shall give it some thought. Your asters look good. I can't tell one from another with my plants. Don't know what's happened to all my labels. Your slugs should be well fed tonight. @AnniD You have been busy today. It's amazing what you find under pots when you lift them. Haven't seen my robin in a long time. I was knackered when I went to the allotment and was surprised at what I achieved. Think I change personality once I get there. I calm down as soon as I close the door behind me. It's raining here now as well. The forecast for the next few days here is quite good so could get yet more jobs completed. @Valley Gardener Sorry to hear that you couldn't do any gardening today. Surely you will get a chance before next Wednesday. Let's hope so. At least you have your painting when the weather is bad. Is the Virginia Creeper high up or within your reach? Well folks I can now start thinking what I shall do tomorrow and then probably do the opposite when I get there.

I know you don't watch GW until Sunday @Fran IOM but the whole episode is about how gardening is good for us both mentally and physically. I thought it was a very good programme this week. I hope you enjoy it as I did.
@Purplerain I did enjoy GW especially the story of the lady with all her roses. It's amazing how gardening helps so many people. Yesterday's weather was glorious. Almost like a summer's day in the afternoon as it started with torrential rain and strong winds and turned into blue sky, sun and not even a breeze. That suited me perfectly as I managed to get rid of all the lavender that was bugging me even though I had only intended to attempt two but seeing how it was going to look I had to carry on. Took some strength to get them out but it's done now. Now I feel as though anything else is a piece of cake. It should now be straight forward weeding, pruning and grass cutting and not to forget the remains of the privet hedge. After thinking the fuchsia hedge was ready for the winter it is still growing like mad so will have to clip some more of that back. The butterflies came out and the odd bee or two. @AnniD and @Valley Gardener Don't know if you had the weather for gardening yesterday. Maybe today. Weather good here at the moment but rain forecast for later this afternoon.
Yesterday's weather put paid to doing any work on the allotment and wasn't even able to get to feed the birds. Today so far is even worse but rain supposed to clear early afternoon. At least I should be able to fill the bird feeders if nothing else. Will have to wait and see.
October already - l have no idea where September went. Dodged some pretty heavy showers this morning and went to order 150 bare rooted wallflowers "Harlequin mix" and bought 8 packs of 6 bellis daises. Called in at the garden centre for a coffee/ tea and a look round. Bought 2 packets of cosmos "Cupcakes" seeds, one white and one mix, also some compost. Heading home had a call to say the wallflowers had been lifted and were ready for collection. After lunch, we got out in the front garden, cleared away the old bedding, raked off the bark and planted roughly 100 wallflowers. They are quite large plants so we could probably have got away with a few less, but l'm sure l can find room in the back garden for any extra to the 50 l have planned. OH put the bark back and we have come in for a cuppa. Good timing as it has gone quite dark and there are a few rumbles of thunder. Still have the back garden ones to plant (and the bellis daisies), the forecast for tomorrow is dry, if a bit chilly, so hopefully l can get most, if not all, of them in the ground. @Purplerain, it's very true about gardening, l was yawning my head off all morning and had a slight headache, but after all that planting it had gone. I am aching a bit though, but in a good way ! Hope @Fran IOM and @Valley Gardener have also been able to get some fresh air.
Well done Anni and OH,quite a marathon planting, but they smell so lovely in spring, theres nothing that smells quite like them. As you say,you feel so much better for getting outside and doing a bit. Im looking forward to a day without rain tomorrow,I can see so much that needs doing. I spotted the black rabbit again earlier.....he ran into someones garden. So he seems to be doing ok in the 'wild', I dont think there are foxes around here,so good luck to him.

@AnniD I can't believe you have got 150 wallflowers to plant out. I was thinking of buying maybe a dozen! You must have plenty of spaces. You and OH have certainly been busy today. We will expect some photos when they are in flower. @Valley Gardener I think we are in for some good weather tomorrow so we should be able to get out into the garden. Is the black rabbit a domesticated one that escaped? I can vaguely remember something you mentioned some time ago. Seems as though he is enjoying himself. The weather here today was really bad but come 3pm the sun did make an appearance but it was still too cold and windy to do anything. Went to feed the birds. They must have been hungry with me missing a day as the fat balls had disappeared as well. Had a look around and the space where the lavender was is looking good. One of my pound shop roses is amazing. It has two flowers and at least 25 buds. Whether they will all bloom will remain to be seen but should look good if they do. Not quite sure what I shall start on tomorrow but looking forward to whatever it will be. Plenty of choice. Two days of bad weather is enough for me. Hope this good weather forecast for tomorrow is for us all.
