@GWRS , it was a comedy with Hugh Bonneville (him off Downton Abbey), set behind the scenes of the BBC. It was supposed to be a parody, but as the years have gone by it would appear to be uncannily accurate. It was a follow up to Twenty Twelve, where his character was heading the team responsible for organising the London Olympics.
Thanks all for info , watched 1 episode and didn’t like it , to true to life I thought at the time 😉 Remmber “ till death do us apart “ thought it was very good
Something tells me you won't see that back on TV anytime soon, along with "It ain't half hot mum" etc. etc. Comedy is extremely subjective, l watched a comedian the other night, l hadn't heard of before (Chris Ramsey). They had played a clip of his act on the radio, made me smile, so l recorded it. His basic material was funny, but guess what, spoilt for me by the language. I found it sad, because there was no need for it, and after 20 minutes or so l deleted it. I know the younger generation would think "miserable old fart", but l think a lot of comedians rely on the shock effect of the language and as it becomes less effective they have to swear even more. Just to confirm my credentials as "an old fart" , l have seen comedians such as Jasper Carrot and Paul O'Grady and they didn't need to swear, and neither did Dave Allen who was mentioned further up the thread. Going for a lie down now !
My neighbour's son's car has been brought home on a recovery truck again. 4th time he's crashed in less than 6 months. He was only just having one of those insurance black-boxes fitted last week too. I'd love to see the data from that. Lets hope they ban him from driving this time before he actually kills someone.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Maggie Thatcher required her ministers to watch Yes Minister as it was instructive.
Agree about swearing in comedy. Not needed. Failure of imagination and communication. Swearing is only effective when used in extremis otherwise it's just plain ugly.
WE - are his parents rich enough to keep buying new cars and/or paying increased insurance?
No grumping here really - except for hous ebeing col thanks to OK faux pas with the heating oil. I have the oven on in the kitchen - 15 minutes to bake the biscuits but I've had it on 2 hours. One of the benefits of PV panels.

Will you be allowing OH to have a biscuit @Obelixx , or is he still in a very large doghouse with no sign of the exit? Agree re: Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister, can watch them over and over again. We have a tradition of watching the Christmas Good Life episode every year - "The ooh ahh bird is so-called because it lays square eggs"
Chocolate chip, peanut butter, pecan and cranberry biscuits now cooling.
OH may be allowed a biscuit and he will probably get Chinese noodles with prawns this evening - Chinese NY. Oil delivery tomorrow will determine how much trouble he's in. If the CH kicks off OK he'll have learned a wee lesson. If it doesn't he'll get time in the corner with the dunce's hat.
