Yes, it can interfere with the Scrooge-like tendencies, certainly.  Today has started dark and very windy. Neighbour's Christmas lights have been flashing away until at least 3am for the last few nights. Although we have blackout curtains, they can still be seen through the gaps around the edges. They gradually get brighter before flashing 3 times, dimming down and starting the cycle over again. I may have to have a (polite) word......

AnniD, the probability is that they are unaware that there is a problem, and will remain that way unless something is said.  We had a motion sensor activated security light at the front of our house which seemed to us to be working fine.  It wasn't until the light packed in that our neighbour from across the road mentioned that it used to wake them up at night when it activated.  When asked why they hadn't said anything they just said they didn't like to.  We'd known them for years.  Typical British reserve and not wanting to risk rocking the boat.

Or a pair of scissors, Anni  :D
A neighbour has put two, different coloured, sets of icicle lights on his house [a very nice little cottage] which have different, migraine inducing, flashing cycles. When I look out my kitchen window at my nice simple white lights round the screen and apple trees, the view is spoilt by his 'Blackpool illuminations' scenario above and beyond them.  :(

Is that curmudgeonly enough for today?  :D
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

It's a good start Fairygirl !  I have had a word - we get on fine, it's just a question of trying to have a word as they are in and out all the time. She was very apologetic and checked the timer which had been moved, possibly by the naughty elf !
Will have to find something else to be curmudgeonly about  >:)

I was coming out of town yesterday evening and thought there must have been a major accident further up the road as all I could see was blue lights flashing.  When I got to the scene I discovered it came from a large detached house which is covered in strings of flashing lights, as is all the fencing and all the trees.  The house is right beside a major roundabout and must be a distraction.  I'm waiting for the first car to go straight through the fence.

I don't like the neighbours opposite so I appreciate all the good ideas in this thread :)Now I just need to work out how to string the lights to spell out 'recycle you lazy b***ards'

we've got blue and white lights. We can make them flash although mostly don't since last year when the farmers down the valley came rushing up wondering who'd been run over  :)
