@Allotment Boy. I had new taps put in for mum at the kitchen sink, easier for her hands, those that you just push the handle one way or the other, it’s now leaking, I asked my builder when he was here doing other work if he could pop a new washer in there, he said,  you can’t put new washers in these, you have to buy new tap. It’s been in there for 8 years!  Nothing wrong with the tap, just drips a bit.

I've got that situation here Lyn, and I know I'll have to fork out for a new tap.  :/

My grump today is about ignorant, a***hole drivers who think it's ok to drive like tossers past my learner daughter after she stalled the car at a set of traffic lights. Three [at least] went on to cut up others in front of us,  and two also drove through the next red light, because they were going so fast they couldn't stop.

Heaven forbid they should have to wait for thirty seconds while she restarted and drove on eh?  >:)

I hope that didn't upset her too much . It's amazing how people forget what it was like learning to drive. I always try to keep back a bit from learners so that a) They can see me in the mirror b) They don't feel that l am right up their backside and c) If something unexpected happens l have plenty of time to react.  Everyone is in such a rush these days, then when they get to where they are going, they sit in the car for 5 minutes checking their phones anyway !

It's no longer the IEE and has not been since March 31st 2006 when we merged with the IIE and became the IET Institution of Engineering and Technology of which I am a fellow member.

And as I'm sure your aware we no longer have regulations but Requirements for Electrical Installations currently the 18th edition with all its amendments and additions as ever  :/

Another IET member here  :), which reminds me, my subs for the next year is due by the end of the month.

  • @JennyJ Your probably one of our younger members  :)  I'm one of the old IEE dinosaurs left over from the time well before we merged, I originally joined back in the dark ages of the 1980s   :/

No-one feeling curmudgeonly today ? Suppose that's a good thing! Have seen the forecast for the end of next week onwards, looks like it might get a bit chilly......

Been too busy.  First night in a week that I haven't had a mega coughing fit so woke up feeling half way human and got on with cleaning the house and stripping and airing beds before getting cleaned up ourselves to go for drinks with some of OH's golfing friends.

They recon we'll have significant (for the Vendée) snow on the 22nd.   Spring in February then?

I'm keeping my curmudgeonliness dry until Wednesday after we've seen the levels of idiocy to which our elected representatives are able to descend.
