Quentin Crisp wasn't trying hard enough.

Once the dry spell in the summer was over I dusted the house top to bottom. The building site I live on had turned into a dust bowl in the heat and it was too hot to have the windows closed. We keep wiping everything down and trying to keep it clean but it creeps back as soon as you turn your back. If I'm shedding this much skin I'll be down to just bone soon.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Not skin apparently.  Particles in the atmosphere, muck from shoes - good idea apparently to leave shoes by the door and wear slippers in the house - pets, children, fabrics........
