Even the lows are on the high side for me Hosta, unless there's a breeze... Will you get your bulbs done? You can always pile them into a few big pots with a bit of soil flung over 'em

Hope you have a lovely holiday, Hosta. It's been a very dark December, so I can understand the need for daylight, even if I wouldn't much like the heat (or the plane, or the airport).
Happy New Ears, Fairy. I also can't be doing with the whole 'new year' taradiddle. I'll be tucked up in bed, fast asleep come midnight. We do usually enjoy New Year's Day though - nice long walk somewhere, as it's usually quiet in the lanes, as long as we can avoid the Stag Hunt.

@Fairygirl, I'm going to stick them ,allium Purple sensation, 5 to a 3l pot so should be fine. Then have to pack and try to have a bit of a siesta as we'll be leaving here around 10.30 tonight. @raisingirl, I'm with you on the whole "plane/ airports" stuff. I hate it.
Sounds like a plan re the bulbs. Likewise r'girl - hope you have a good sleep There's bound to be r*ddy fireworks though Airports - don't get me started. I'd rather eat my own hair. It's weirdly mild here. I can't get used to that, especially as we've had the 'normal' sort of frost/ice/wet weather in the previous month or two, although we've missed any of the snow that was around. I had to laugh one day recently when I was out. There was freezing ground, and fog, and it didn't really get above zero all day. Went into a shop and there was a bloke kicking about with shorts on....

Allotment Boy I'm glad you enjoyed the Nutcracker, I love it, so colourful and Christmassy and I love ballet anyway.
Lily P, only 2 glass balls from the tree got broken. Also my clothes brush, think one small boy tried to whack another with it!
OH told me about that company with no ferries last night, Hosta. I hope you have a good holiday and the weather does what it's supposed to.
We don't do New Year anymore, quite enough excitement with Christmas! But I have got some very large prawns for dinner and some Mon Cheri chocolates for pudding. We are going to tea with friends in the village this afternoon.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Fairygirl, the guy who owns the shop Hubby works in, wears shorts every day of the year. Loony!
He's not a postman is he? Nutcracker's always on tv at this time of year too, BL. I love it. I usually record it and then watch it later, as I did on Christmas day. I took oldest daughter to see a performance when she was little. After whispering to me a few times, asking questions - much to the annoyance of the posh Edinburgh folk around us - she paused, then whispered 'Mum - why is no one talking?' I hadn't thought to explain it. She settled down and enjoyed it thoroughly though, and still enjoys it to this day.

Morning all. Quiet day here after all. Possum's feeling tired after all the coughing and I'm bunged up so La Rochelle trip postponed to Wednesday. Bit of cleaning, bit of sorting, lots of sewing lined up. We'll have a good dinner and go to bed when we're tired. Can't be doing with NY celebrations either and hope none of the neighbours go into fireworks mode. Apart from all the wildlife, Luc has 500 cattle in his barns, some pregnant.
No grandkids here but three tree baubles are dead - two to Bonzo's waggy tail and one to a fat white pussycat. He's also chewed a felt Xmas pudding.
FG - do you know the trick of putting a hollow handled roller on a broomstick so you don't have to climb up or bend neck and shoulders too much to do ceilings?
LP - horrid having painful ears. Hope it clears up soon. Hugs to everyone else with lurgies, injuries etc. You OK Pdoc?
Have a good trip Hosta. Enjoy your hols. Hope you cool down soon Pat. Warm is good but too hot is tiring.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Re The Ballet-The irony is I wasn't supposed to go. My OH bought the (very expensive) tickets a while back I said I would not go, as though I enjoy it as an overall performance the finer points are a bit lost on me. OH's daughters & the 3 GC's all have done/ do dance so they know what they are looking at. One GC had an operation on her foot a week before Christmas but after a trial day out on 29th felt too nervous about going on the tube with large crowds, so I ended up going. We have seen the Mathew Bourne production before but this was more "classical". Like others I have seen various productions on TV. I do love the music & interestingly the orchestra got the biggest cheer & applause at the end which is very unusual.
