Best of luck A.B. You mightwell need it!
I never did loads of starters - there was always plenty of other things to eat if they didn't like home made soup or smoked salmon. Same with dessert - plenty of chocolates/mince pies/cake if you didn't like Christmas pudding. Saved a lot of stress when catering for a dozen or more  ;)
    I'm immersed in Liri's apanthropy. Can't beat a bit of solitude  :)

  • @Fairygirl Thanks- I have tried in vain to get her to simplify things but she likes doing it, we too have all the other options. Sill the soup is already made just have to get it out of the freezer, salmon & prawns only need a bit of salad with them. At least 2 of the Puds are already made- I'm probably just panicking needlessly- like us men do ;)

Ithink it's because we want it to be perfect, and the truth is - it rarely is, and the imperfections are often what make it more fun  :)
I used to make as much as I could in advance and freeze it too [soup, cranberry sauce and breadcrumbs, the cake and pudding were all done weeks in advance too]  but you still need the right timing on the day to make sure things are defrosted by the time you need it! :D
I'm sure it'll all go splendidly. Have a great day  :)

  • Hello all.  Quick look in now I've done everything I need to...

@Fairygirl - good on you, apanthropy rules.  My best introverted friend says she might use apanthropy as an excuse, when invited out to do something...  "Sorry, I'm afraid I can't come.  I've got apanthropy..."   :)

We've borrowed some of your freezing fog, too, Fairy.  It's a good time of year for Christmas, when the weather encourages us to stay inside and eat too much.

Very best wishes to everyone for tomorrow, especially those feeling under the weather, delicate or below par.  Hope you manage to enjoy the day, whatever you're doing.   :)

Might try that one too, Liri   ;)

Yes - still well below freezing here - but it's supposed to ease up by tomorrow morning at some point. It's been pretty constant since yesterday apart from a couple of hours today. Glad I'm not a little bird trying to find a warm roost  :)
Daughter made some more mince pies  - bad idea  :o

@Fairygirl  I only have the family every other year, except they all come at some stage during the holiday. Daughter vacuumed a spare room and made some beds.

After lunch the family went for a walk and I went for a siesta.

We had party food canapés and wine with the children this evening in the sitting room, but they had soft drinks. Then cake and chocolates. Then we all went to lay out our empty stockings in front of the family room woodburner. Just stopped OH in time - he had already filled mine! Father Christmas hasn't been yet!

Glad you got a little rest BL. Just as well no one spotted 'Santa' was a bit early for you then  ;)
Have a lovely day tomorrow - eat, drink and be merry  :)

Evening all. Just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, hope you get to celebrate (or not) in the way that suits you best.

We normally have loads of wrapping still to do at this point, but it's done! I'm delighted, as I seem to be going down with a lurgy :(. OH and Bow have had it and are more or less better... my turn (Trill's fine so far). So am off to bed with some drugs in the hope of heading it off by morning :).

    Night night, have fun x

Night night to all on Christmas Eve. I see that according to the Santa Tracker he is very close to U.K. so if you want him to visit, you had better snuggle down! (He must have been to Pat’s already!).

    Happy Christmas as everyone.

I’ve got a new iPad which can do things my old one couldnt do, and it’s lighter to hold. All pluses.  I’ve also got three sets of Gansai Tambi paints which have shiny finishes. I’m eager to get started, trying them out. 😆

its already 25c outside at 11am, so I’ve a good excuse to stay indoors and play with all my new things.
