Yesterday afternoon, the lady with whom I met often when dog
walking before her heart attack, phoned to ask me if I could take her dog out
with mine as her daughter had already returned to her home but her son (who has
a mental illness) refused to do it because he’s afraid he’ll catch the latest
COVID variant. She sounded at the end of her tether. Of course, I said yes.
When I saw her, it seemed to me her skin was kind of grey
and her features pinched. I thought just a few days in hospital was probably insufficient in her case but I was quite
relieved to hear that she was expecting
a visit from the nurse.
You should feel nothing of the sort. You can't cure her son. Obviously it's stressful for her but hopefully, she is on the mend and still has medical support.
Helping in ways we can, it's the only thing any of us can do. Chin up!
I have a dream that my.. children.. one day..
will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their
character

Nothing like feeling hopelessly inadequate.
