Good morning all, I hope everyone is feeling okay this awful wet windy day. I had a phone call yesterday from a lady who called me by name and she said they are going to increase my benefits. When I said I wasn't on benefits the phone was slammed down. I suppose the next stage would have been to ask for bank details to put so called benefits in. So many scams going around.
I don't trust any phone calls from folk that I don't know and am not expecting. Quite often they call me by my old name (I changed it about 12 years ago) and then I know that they're using out of date information... I just tell them that person is dead

Well hello again remember me, getting new BT router & upgrade to Fibre Broadband? I know it's only a week but what a week we have had. I have read back a bit so my trials are minor compared to many. Even though we consider ourselves very light users of t'internet it's amazing how cut off you are when you have no connection. I won't bore you all with the whole sorry saga but just to say that if anyone else has such problems: in exasperation at getting a message that our compliant was closed & engineer (3rd one) was cancelled, my OH used her phone to email the chief exec. Within an hour she got a call from a senior manager who arranged an engineer for this morning not Friday that the call centre offered. This last chap confirmed what I had been trying to tell all these call centre people, there was never anything wrong with the phone line & the Broadband stopped when they switched me over- basically because they didn't do it properly. They disconnected the old line but did not connect the fibre line to my house. They have wasted so much of my & their time on this it's no wonder they are in trouble. Hope everyone is well.
Allotment B we had similar probs. They kept saying it was fixed and it wasn’t! Took about 2 years to finally resilve🙁However they did send us a “hub” to use. Have you been offered that?
Fairy it doesnt seem too bad here. But I guess it’s coming
Fidget, yup I have phoned D. Russell butcher today. Apparently it is all legit so I asked for a supervisor and made some suggestions. Turns out they have sub contracted this offer to a call firm. He was pleased I had called. (Not impressed.)I feel they should tell you this straight away. Confirmation email came straight away. I feel so sad as I realise the lectures I gave my mum and here I am!
joyce I quite agree however I di a lot of shopping On line and they do ask for a number its a tricky one, do I or not
Chicky enjoy NY, once the work is over of course!

I have a friend who never answers the phone, says I must leave a message and she'll ring me back. If I did that too we would never be able to phone each other! I find it very frustrating.
Got in a load of logs, now off to the SM and haberdashery.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
A lot of it about Dove. Surely it's better for profits and thus job security, not to mention keeping clients, to get things right first time.
Cold, grey and dull here. Been out to La Roche to get bits for sewing because, of course, the one colour of zip I don't have is the fuchsia pink for this frock. Bouht some cotton wadding for my Xmas table quilt and some navy blue wool challis for some trousers while I was on.
Sewing and walkies this pm then. Supposed to be wet in spurts for the next few days but no strong winds so far. I see Sydney has been drowned. I hope you're getting some Pat.
Stay safe everyone. Have a good flight Chicky.

We had a letter this morning saying they were coming to fit a smart meter on 17th December. The letter made it sound like we had no option. They have been phoned and told that we do not want a smart meter. They will not be allowed in to fit one. Don't contact us again about this. As t'other half said. What is that pink thing with the curly tail flying past the window.?
@fidgetbones as I understand it, the situation is that if your meters are due for replacement then there’s nuthin you can do about it. However, if they’re just chancing their arm then it’s up to you.

Apparently the appointments should never have been made because the meters don’t work in this area
i asked why they’d phoned me up on several occasions and asked us to have a smart meter fitted ... he didn’t know
Piss ups and breweries spring to mind
