Morning anyone who's around, and afties Pat if you're about too Sounds good GWRS. My dad was a jazz musician back in the day, and played with many of the big bands in the forties before moving up here. Wind woke me again [outdoor kind not 'indoor' ] at the back of six, so I just got up. It's still quite gloomy and pretty wet. Wind's to get stronger, so I doubt anything will be getting done outdoors today I'll have more tea and look round here for a bit while watching Landward. Dougie [Vipond] is travelling around Glen Feshie. Lovely area.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Good morning Fairy, I woke coz my hubby as just gone to work. I really want to clear all the leaves that are covering my plants, I feel shattered from work right now tho so maybe later 😬
Good morning all A much better nights sleep ... really restful ... good job too as we’ll be collecting MIL and driving up to the northwest over the next few days. Not sure which route were taking yet but if we pass your way @punkdoc we’ll give you a wave ... look out for an elderly Megane cabriolet ... N.B. I will not have my top down .

I think any remaining leaves here are now quite a distance away! I went out yesterday and removed teh sweet pea foliage from various locations, because I knew it would be battered to bits anyway overnight. Some plants were a bit sad looking after all the frost/rain/ice combos we've had recently, so they were overdue for removal. Shame, because they're still producing new growth and buds. Maybe you'll be perkier and raring to go later, flumpy

@Liriodendron I wrote both my parents' eulogies. You can go two ways, really; a simple summary of their life story - born here, grew up there, worked here, did this and that - or one 'anecdote' that you think sums them up. My Dad had A Life so I did the first for him, because I doubted that the people who knew him as an old man - most of those at his funeral - would have had any notion at all what he was like as a young man. I also included Robert Burns' epitaph for William Muir, because it describes Dad and his philosophy very well ("If there's another life, he lives in bliss. If there is none, he made the best of this"). Recourse to poetry is always good if you find you struggle for words of your own. For Mum though, she painted a particular painting for me, which was based on a story she told me when I was a child. It was of a place that involved a very typical sort of outing with her which happened many years later. And the central character of the story seemed to represent her, though I doubt she meant it to when she made it up.
Hope you can find some inspiration. And it's good you got to be with her at the end.
